After years of dedicated work, he was finally inducted into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame, Class of 2023. The ceremony took place on December 12.

Ernie Johnson crafted a poem for his friends, family, and well-wishers

While Johnson’s show, “Inside the NBA” won 17 sports Emmys, the star won six sports Emmy awards as a studio host. Not to mention the love from fans and viewers he has won over the years. It was only right for him to narrate another engaging poem for the crowd. 

He read, “I’m blessed to look out at the faces I see. Be thankful for what you have all meant to me. I’m honored and grateful to have had a career that somehow allowed me to be standing here.” He continued, “Blessed to have parents who showed me to know a guy Jesus who guides me each day. Blessed with co-workers who are really much more, they’re friends and family right down to the core.”

His poem was aimed at appreciating the people around him. Those who have constantly given him love and support. A nod of appreciation to his co-workers and friends.

Talking about his wife, he said, “Blessed that one day in 1982, a woman named Cheryl uttered two words I Do. She is a snapshot of beauty, compassion, and grit. For 41 years, she’s put up with my… schedule.” 

His co-hosts from TNT’s “Inside the NBA,” also shared a profound appreciation for Johnson.

Further, he stated how Johnson is everyone’s favorite. The Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal is also fond of Johnson and was seen sharing a few words about his friendship with the 67-year-old in a clip shared by the official X page of NBA TNT.
