Gabrielle Union has always loved her daughter’s ability to be “pretty ahead of schedule.” As a toddler, she was quite a fast learner, acquiring impressive speech for a 3-year-old. Cut to the present, she is turning quite the fashionista, steadfast with her choices and preferences. However, just ahead of the most important of events, the aspect almost backfired for the Wade family.

Appearing on IPSY’s Hitting Pan podcast, Gabrielle spoke about Kaavia’s interest in beauty at just age 6. “In Glam, Kav has her approved braiders and the people who can touch her hair and cannot touch her hair,” she reveals before adding how she loves a lip and to do her own eyeshadow. This would call for a hilarious memory when Kaavia was adamant about her makeup.

It was Dwyane Wade’s statue unveiling after all and the 6-year-old was only ensuring she looked best for the day. But the family would have to endure a little haste. “My husband got a statue and my child had a red lip and she’s not leaving until there’s a lip. Either we skip the whole thing entirely or let this child have a lip,” she recalled.

But thankfully, the entire family made it in time for the event; Kaavia in a pink sequence dress, a floral head band to match, and of course her red lip. She’d console her father when he got emotional, replicate the pose in front of the statue, and write, “cemented in daddy’s legacy,” congratulating the Miami Heat icon on the special day.

Everything turned out alright and the Shady Baby got to meet her needs. Only a given considering Gab admits Kaavia has been a “fashion fan” since she could walk.

“She’s had an obsession with our closets…the shoes and purses,” the Bring It On actress had revealed via Vanity Fair. You’d even find her emptying Gab’s haircare products and giving a makeover to her father. But being the keen-eyed parents they are, Dwyane and Gab would help her launch a clothing collection in collaboration with Janie and Jack. And let us tell you, it wasn’t all just in name.

Gabrielle reveals the 6-year-old had some strong opinions, straight up saying no to the designs she did not like. And the couple gave her all the freedom. Kaavia sure might be a little fast paced for her age and not just in fashion.

Gabrielle Union loves Kaavia’s surprising learning abilities

In a conversation with E! News, Gabrielle had listed a host of things Kaavia learned as a 3-year-old– counting, identifying certain words on a page, being fully potty trained, and even asking for privacy. But that was not all. The Bring It On actress reveals she was able to turn on the TV herself and find her very specific YouTube videos that she wanted to watch.

“Yeah, she’s pretty dang dynamic,” Gab says. Kaavia’s actions even had the parents forgetting she was still a baby who could throw tantrums. “Wait, oh, wait, you’re not 100 years old. You’re a baby that cried because somebody put a tomato on your pasta…” was Gab’s reaction.

The Shady Baby also learnt Spanish pretty quick, leaving her parents to look for different ways to challenge her. She hasn’t slowed down now either. The 6-year-old apparently did her own makeup for her Barbie-themed birthday party last year and offered to set Gab’s hair once. But to be remembered she is still a kid, the actress adds Kaavia had picked up a hand lotion instead of a hair product in doing her hair. “So, yeah, she doesn’t always know what everything goes to. She’s very interested,” Union shared. Well, let’s see what’s in store for the little fashionista.
