Dwight Howard and Royce Reed were together during his early years with the Orlando Magic. The two had a child together. When the show Basketball Wives was looking for its cast members, Reed was brought in because of her relationship with Dwight Howard. This opened up huge opportunities for her.

Reed became a celebrity after her appearance on the show, but it did not come without any consequences. Although she was being true to herself and did what she loved, her family members decided to cut ties with her over it.

One episode changed everything for Royce Reed

In a recent interview with VladTV, Royce Reed talked about her early days on the show Basketball Wives. Although she was relatively unknown at the time and didn’t leave much of an impression in the minds of the people, everything changed after the first season of Basketball Wives.

Royce Reed quickly realized after joining the show that things would be portrayed differently than they really are. The drama was given priority. In her early scenes, Reed felt like she was being herself, but the show producers let her and everyone else know that it was not enough and asked people to do other things.

But everything changed for Reed once she did the pool party episode. She loves to dance, and when presented with the opportunity to let it all out on the floor, she did exactly that. Reed did not think much of her dance performance, but social media went ablaze after seeing her performance.

Reed said, “That’s all it was to me. But when it was all over TMZ and when I filmed with them the next day, it was like I just made the worst mistake in my life.“

She revealed that it was picked up by TMZ, and she was portrayed in a negative light, which led even a cousin of hers to stop contacting her. That is when she understood that things will not always be how they really are.

Reed is not happy about her relationship with Dwight Howard

Reed revealed in a previous interview that it was not Dwight’s look that attracted her, but his personality. He was a nice guy, and he always gave gifts to Reed. But when she became part of the show, she learned that Howard had been cheating on her with other women.

According to Reed, Howard is not a good parent, and his videos of him showing support to his children and training them are just an act. She thinks that Dwight is a bad influence on her child and he is not the person that she used to be.
