Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union are one of the most famous couples in the basketball world. This might be due to the fact that apart from Wade’s Hall of Fame career, Union is quite a famous Hollywood actor herself. Before getting hitched to the Hollywood star though, D-Wade was married to a renowned public speaker for 8 years. They share two children, Zaya and Zaire Wade.

Siohvaughn Funches and Dwyane tied the knot in 2002. The high-school sweethearts separated over a decade ago but in 2022, they met again in court. The Flash‘s son was recently on social media wishing his mother on her big day.

21-year-old Zaire Wade is currently playing in South Africa for the Cape Town Tigers. The 6’3 guard was a top 10 pick in the 2021 NBA G League Draft. However, due to injuries, his road to the big leagues has been lengthened.

Amidst of all this Zaire took out the time to wish his mother, Siohvaughn, on her 42nd birthday.

Zaire wrote, “Happy birthday to my OG. Love you more than life itself.”

Siohvaughn Funches-Wade was married to Dwyane Wade for eight years from the year 2002 to 2010 and continued to share custody over their two children. However, this lead to a public disagreement when Zaya decided to opt for a gender change.

Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union have been vocal supporters of LGBTQ rights. Zaya Wade who came out as a transgender woman did not have it easy when it came to legally changing her name and gender as her mother Siohvaughn opposed the decision in court.

The three-time champion was awarded full custody of his kids after a lengthy custody battle but was recently accused by his former partner of forcing an identity on the teenager for monetary gains.

Finally, Dwyane Wade rejoiced after the court granted his petition and ruled in his favor. Siohvaughn is yet to comment on the decision.

After a chaotic court battle Zaya continues to shine as she took on various modelling projects. Recently. according to her social media handle she featured on the cover of the famous magazine Dazed.
