“Why would you give Skip Bayless a platform?” Lou Williams questioned. The controversial sports commentator recently stirred drama again when he questioned Lakers star Luka Doncic‘s loyalty to his team and his teammate LeBron James. However, many fans could relate to the star player’s emotions. The analyst’s sharp criticism of players, including James, is seemingly not seen in a good light by many NBA experts and fans. Many feel it’s a very outdated approach, and it even led to ex-Warriors comparing him to Michael Jordan. But how?

In the latest episode of The Underground Lounge podcast, former NBA player Williams presented the question to the crew. Arenas was the first to share his opinion on it, explaining the position Bayless holds in the current media world. “It’s like Michael Jordan on the Wizards. It is still Michael Jordan, right?” he said.

“A guy who built his career on body bagging and putting out narrative so I’m jumping out of every time. But at the end of the day, like, he wasn’t gonna go, ‘You got 15 minutes sir. I’m gonna do a three-hour video on you, break down every word you done said’… You got producers doing your research. You ain’t doing it yourself, right. Like I already know your playbook. That playbook only works if you call me to your venue and then you hit me with some s–t that I can’t really… This is YouTube. I’m putting you in my world. You jump out the window first. I listen to it. I do the research. Then I hit you. He can’t come back,” Arenas explained.

Arenas is someone who has always called out the veteran analyst for his ruthless criticism of James. He even went as far as to claim that Bayless wouldn’t even have a career if he had criticized Jordan the way he has done with James. After the Fox Sports analyst praised James for his 50,000 points, Arenas quickly commented that he should have done that sooner.

This eventually led the analyst to call out the former Golden State Warriors player for a debate. And like Arenas said earlier in the podcast, he promised to be well prepared! Just a few days ago, he made a claim on the Los Angeles Lakers‘ newest star Doncic.

Skip Bayless dragged in LeBron James to talk about Luka Doncic

The veteran analyst recently had a serious warning for the Lakers. He believes that one thing that Doncic does often will cause issues for the Purple and Gold in the playoffs. In The Skip Bayless Show, the analyst explained if Doncic continues to take the 3s the way he has been doing, it might create issues. “Luka shoots way way way too many 3s. He’s got a lot of LeBron in him. Nobody can score at the lane better than Luka. Nobody can score at the rim better than LeBron,” he said.

It has only been some time since Doncic joined the Lakers. But the trade took everyone by surprise, including Doncic himself. His return to play against the Dallas Mavericks brought back all the emotions. And the heart felt tribute from the fans got him almost teary eyed. While it’s true that he never expected to leave the Mavericks, Doncic has been dedicated to the Lakers.

Despite that, his emotional reaction to the tribute got scrutiny from Bayless. “If you miss it this badly, do you want to stay here? Don’t you want to be a Laker?” he asked. It seems that the former ESPN employee is not yet done with his favourite chapters, James and Lakers.
