From being called the reincarnation of Michael Jordan to being called ‘soft’, it has been a complete 180-degree turnaround of opinions regarding Anthony Edwards. Even his team has regressed from being in the Western Conference finals to now occupying the 8th spot in the western conference. Amidst this, his tendency to receive fines also increased; we will throw light on that later. But during the tough times, it seems Ant-Man has some support that too from a Lakers legend from the Showtime Era.

On his podcast, Byron Scott discussed the current NBA scenario and what teams had the potential to make it to the finals. Interestingly dismissing Oklahoma and the Cavaliers and giving Boston the edge, the former Lakers coach touched upon the fall the Minnesota Timberwolves (20-18 currently) have had and Anthony Edwards with them.

Minnesota’s kind of floundered this year, you know, and Anthony Edward, who I love because I think he has an old-school mentality,” he says. But that doesn’t stop him from expressing his admiration for the Ant-Man. “But I love his mentality cuz he’s a no-nonsense type guy. He doesn’t believe in this load management stuff, you know I love that about him.

His co-host would later remind him about the current fines and issues with the Wolves star. “He’s been fine a lot so far in the NBA this year. Because he’s going off on the refs, he’s going off players, going off on everybody I think.” But the 3x NBA Champion had no issues with it.

He’s speaking his mind,” Scott asserted via the FastBreak podcast. However, the league thinks otherwise, as his fine amount has reached close to $300,000. In the game loss against the Memphis Grizzlies, Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards received a penalty of $50,000. Because he made an obscene gesture toward a game official, in the third quarter with 1:26 remaining.

This comes to light after his previous fines of $175K for criticism of officials/profane language, $35K for an obscene gesture, and $14K for technical fouls. Plus another $25k for his profanity during the media interview. Maybe the 23-year-old needs to take control of his emotions.

Not the only time Anthony Edwards’ statement got him into hot waters

The bold and brash attitude of Antman is what the people fell in love with. Even during his trash-talking attitude towards his idol, like Kevin Durant, was appreciated. But one of his comments regarding Michael Jordan and the previous era didn’t sit well with a lot of former players. One of them was his current fan, Byron Scott.

“Even though he did rip us a little bit about you know we weren’t athletic back in the day, he out of his damn mind. But he better go back and look at some tape too.” The 2008 Coach of the Year is a fan of how Anthony Edwards conducts himself with hardnose basketball. But is not a fan of him bashing the previous generation of players. As Ant-Man stated, “[Michael Jordan] was the only one that really had skill.”

Thankfully, the 2x All-Star did not have to pay a fine for such comments. But was on the receiving end of some heat, as the former players including Charles Barkley and Magic Johnson ripped him apart.
