Michael Jordan is arguably the best offensive player in NBA history. He is the only player in history to win ten scoring titles. There were not many who could have halted MJ from reaching the basket. But even he has respect for those who make the effort to subdue him, albeit less successfully.

In a resurfaced video that emerged online, Michael Jordan was heaping some massive praise on his former friend and NBA Hall of Famer. But did the courageous act get any voice of support from MJ?

Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley were good friends while they were in the NBA. MJ beat ‘Chuck’ in the 1993 NBA Finals when the Chicago Bulls faced off against the Phoenix Suns. In a clip that has resurfaced on social media, MJ is seen praising Barkley for his insane attitude in the game of basketball.

In the video, when the interviewer asked MJ what he thinks of Barkley’s defensive abilities, he came up with a short story “Charles goes like, ‘Somebody?s Gotta Guard This Guy, I?ll Guard This Guy’… Charles jumps out and guards me. And I never know that Charles is a defensive stopper, so the first thing he does is he breaks down in defensive position… Everything looks technically right. And I just laugh.”

Furthermore, Jordan praised Barkley’s mentality in challenging circumstances. “‘When the hell you start playing defense.’ That’s the type of guy. He would take on a challenge.”

Barkley and Jordan continued to maintain their friendship until an altercation between the two sparked a fire.

Charles Barkley offers white flag to Michael Jordan

MJ and Charles Barkley were good friends before they got into an altercation at the time when Jordan was purchasing the Charlotte Hornets. But the 1993 MVP is ready to squash his beef with Jordan as he said, “That would be on his end… He was my best friend at the time and I love the guy and I miss the guy. But you know I got to do my job. What I said about Michael, I said, I don?t know if he?s ever going to be successful because of the people around him??”

It’ll be interesting to see if Barkley and Jordan join hands in the future.

Michael Jordan is one of the elites who’s part of the 30,000-points club in the NBA. He has the highest PPG ever in NBA history. He’s the only one to enjoy a points-per-game statistic of over 30 points (30.1) in basketball history. It’ll be interesting to see if anyone breaks or even comes close to the records set by the six-time NBA Champion.
