What is Stephen A. Smith known for? For most spectators, the answer would be his controversial sports opinions. However, this narrative seems to be untrue after his recent interview session with Fox News. Last week, the “First Take” show host sat with the team at Fox News to share his views about the not-so-common topic of “politics.”
“As much as people may have been abhorred by Donald Trump’s statement weeks ago, talking about how he’s hearing that Black folks find him relatable because of what he is going through is similar to what Black Americans have gone through, he wasn’t lying; he was telling the truth,” he said in the same interview session while defending former US President Donald Trump.
As expected, people didn’t take his bold comments well. And he eventually “paraded all over social media” and made waves in news headlines. Amid the spectators, the news also garnered attention from Kwame Brown, who immediately felt compelled to weigh in. To participate, he recorded a response to Stephen A Smith and posted it on his official YouTube Account with the caption, “Kwame Brown Reacts To Stephen A Getting Cancelled Forced To Apologize!“

Interestingly, Kwame not only delved deeper into Stephen’s comments but also threw gauntlets at him for supporting Donald Trump. After this, it appeared that the storm had passed. But, the controversy refused to fade into the background.
Stephen A. Smith vs. Kwane Brown: unravelling the truth
Moving on, Stephen A. Smith soon realized and uploaded an apology video for offending the Black community on his official YouTube account. On 22nd April, he not only took accountability for all his statements but also justified himself. He said, “A lot of folks in Black America seem pretty pissed at me right now… Quite a few folks were offended as my words were interpreted as associating support for Trump by the Black community with all the legal issues he’s facing.”

He added, “For that, I sincerely apologize. I’m stating right here for the record that I was taken out of context.” Meanwhile, he mentioned that he had been gathering news from reputable publications, including The New York Times and NBC. Though he justified everything, he remained apologetic.

But, despite his apologies, Kwame Brown remained unwavering. “You are a grown man complaining on the airwaves and you are trying to make it seem like you are awakened and you made a change,” he scoffs. “But listening to you always pander and say but I’m not voting for Trump, you are talking just to talk.” he added. While Stephen seems to be apologetic for his statement at first glance, Kwame’s response makes people think about his words. And now the question is: Is Stephen really apologizing or is he just “talking to talk”? Comment down below!
