During game 6 of the 1997 NBA Finals, the scores between the Chicago Bulls and the Utah Jazz were tied at 86. A historic moment cropped up when Kerr pulled a 17-foot jumper which led the Chicago Bulls to win the game with an 88-86 lead.

Later Kerr revealed what exactly happened at that moment. He said, ?When we called time out with 25 seconds to go, we went into the huddle and Phil told Michael. ?Michael, I want you to take the last shot.'”

Jordan who, by Kerr’s admission, wasn’t comfortable with the shot, asked the GSW coach for the shot as he said, ?Why don?t we go to Steve?? And that’s how Kerr made that legendary moment.
