The Last Dance docuseries is once again under the spotlight. Jason Hehir, the director of the show, recently revealed that there was a deleted clip from the series. During his appearance at the Bill Simmons podcast, the director shared that he was interested in including a particular scene that showed how the former General Manager of the Chicago Bulls, Jerry Krause was bullied.

However, Michael Jordan‘s team specifically asked him to leave out this part from the docuseries. He recalled that the scene was from the locker room where Scottie Pippen made a harsh comment on Krause in the presence of Jordan and Ron Harper.

“There was a clip of Scottie [Pippen] in the training room with Michael [Jordan] and, I think, Ron Harper… He was saying something to the effect of when they win the championship, he’s going to take a cattle prod and stick it up Jerry Krause’s a** and give him a heart attack. And everyone laughed. And they were like, ‘Woah, you gotta take that out,’ “ Hehir said.

The director explained how he followed NBA’s associate producer Dion Cocoros to the train station to convince him but couldn’t succeed. Speaking of the criticism he himself got, Hehir said, I was trying to show people all of the hazing that this poor guy endured and the way that audiences took it when it came out, out he’s s*****g on Jerry Krauss and making Michael the hero that was never my intent.”

Do you think the clip could have changed how people viewed the late GM today? Many have argued how the show seemed to portray Krause in a poor light.

Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen were upset by this Jerry Krause’s comment

There were some questionable decisions and comments by Krause which were highlighted in the show. As many might be aware, Krause’s controversial comment, “players and coaches don’t win championships; organizations win championships,” created the stir. It was this comment that caused the rift. Both Jordan and Pippen weren’t happy about this comment. The sentiment was similar for the fans too.

Even though the GM has always denied it saying and claimed his words were misquoted, that didn’t make an impact on the fans. Krause stated that the word “alone” from “players and coaches alone don’t win championships; organizations win championships,” was omitted.

The docuseries seems to just have added more fuel to the fire. However, it cannot be denied that while Jordan, Pippen, and the rest of the team were key to the Bulls’ success, Krause was also an essential element that kept the team together.
