At first, Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley began bickering on the NBA hardwood. The duo had several spats, some even escalating to brawls. It was after their mothers’ intervention that the two men settled their heated conflict. Yet, fortune worked so that they found themselves on opposing sides once again, this time on NBA on TNT. Working as analysts, the duo constantly engages in furious verbal exchanges.
Turner Sports cleverly utilizes this rivalry and pins them against each other in various segments. 10 years ago, they faced off in a weightlifting competition. The Superman vs the Chuckster. From just appearance alone, you might think the winner would be Big Diesel. But Barkley had a few tricks up his sleeve. With two of Hollywood’s most successful faces watching along, the contest began.

Shaquille O’Neal jolts back his losing memory against Charles Barkley
In 2013, Shaq and Chuck became competitors in the Pain & Gain challenge. It was a competition to promote Dwayne The Rock Johnson and Mark Wahlberg’s film at the time. The occasion was big enough with both Shaq and Charles Barkley putting their pride on the line. Additionally, Dwayne Johnson and Wahlberg were both the spotters during the contest.
In the limelight of their careers, Shaq and Chuck were associated with brute strength and freakish athleticism. At their peak, they were near unstoppable, each having the physical advantage in most matchups. Likewise, the scales were equal. Two NBA Hall of Famers went to battle against each other once again.

Recently, The Big Aristotle shared the moment on his Instagram stories as well.
The bigs made the first three reps look easy, going up to 313 lbs. Up next was 405 lbs. Shaq went first. He got the bar down with control, but it wasn’t the same when it came time to lift it. Waving his feet to show struggle, The Rock stepped in and racked the heavyweight back on.
Then came Barkley’s turn. After Shaq’s failure, not many would have expected his rival to complete the challenge. Shockingly enough, Barkley focused up and somehow pushed his way to complete the lift. Shaq was left flabbergasted.

The Philadelphia 76ers legend was adjourned as the winner. Shaq on the other hand was heartbroken. Wallowing in the loss, the expression on his face dropped to a frown. “Shaquille is a sore loser,” Barkley said in his trophy presentation.

Barkley’s foul play
Shaquille O’Neal is one of the most dominant players in the history of the NBA. Most of us probably favored the four-time champion in the battle of the brutes. Despite the odds, however, Barkley took the win with two of Hollywood’s most successful faces watching along.
However, he might have used a few tricks to get the desired result.
As a parting gift, the host threw a 45lbs plate right at Diesel. The Los Angeles Lakers legend didn’t flinch to catch it, but it also made him realize something; Barkley’s weights were never authentic.

Frustrated by his use of unfair means, Shaq snatched the trophy away from Barkley. At the end of the day, Superman remained victorious.
