Among those who watched Kamala Harris’ introspective interview on CNN, Magic Johnson was one of them. Not surprisingly. Earvin “Magic” Johnson, his wife, Cookie, and the family go way back with the presidential candidate. Two decades in fact. Their friendship stems from a shared view on social issues and Magic’s work as an activist and philanthropist. As Harris is making a bid for the top office in the country, the Lakers legend continues to back her vocally.

The incumbent VeP did her first full sitdown since taking over President Biden’s campaign with CNN’s Dana Bash tonight. Magic was on X in the last minutes of the broadcast expressing his views on it.
“Vice President Kamala Harris was outstanding in her CNN interview tonight! She has a real vision for the country,” he said in a series of tweets about it.

“VP Harris was strong and clear about her positions on the economy, foreign policy, immigration, and other issues. She clearly explained why she changed viewpoints on a couple of issues which shows her humility, growth, and willingness to be open,” he wrote about Harris elaborating on her policies that have changed since her last presidential run and since becoming Vice President of the US.

The interview was done in Savannah with her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. It was their first joint interview and Johnson didn’t leave him out. “A special shoutout to her running mate Governor Tim Walz who also did a great job tonight and to anchor Dana Bash for fantastic interview.”

Reactions to the interview were relatively tame. Regardless the 5x NBA champion only had praise for her.

Magic Johnson’s unwavering support for Kamala Harris
Magic Johnson and his wife were present at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago last week. He shared every bit of his experience on X, including hailing Harris’ and the Obamas’ speeches.
Johnson reiterated his friendship with VP Harris and her family stating, “I’ve known Kamala Harris for over 20 years supporting her journey from Attorney General, to Senator, to Vice President – and tonight, she delivered her most powerful speech yet.”

Not surprisingly, the Johnsons have been present at every moment of Harris’ political career. They’ve voiced their support, backed her campaigns, and cheered when she took any kind of office. He also endorsed her as Biden’s running mate in the 2020 race.

After her DNC speech, Johnson wrote, “VP Kamala Harris showed the world how smart, tough and most importantly, how ready she is to be Commander in Chief.” The CNN interview has only cemented his belief and he’s firmly behind Kamala Harris for president.
