Sports entertainment has reached a new peak. Alongside traditional media analysts like Stephen A. Smith, Shaquille O’Neal, Shannon Sharpe, and many more, a pack of new digital creators like Gilbert Arenas also made the cut in the recently released list of the ‘Top 25 Most Entertaining Sports Media Personalities Right Now’.

As the entertainment factor was one of the major deciding factors in this ranking, Gilbert Arenas ranked above countless established media personalities. However, after receiving great advice from the 3x All-Star and making millions in the process, it was a 2x Grammy nominee who ranked above the Warriors legend in the new list.

Rappers made the sports entertainment list

Cam’ron and Mase, the rap legends, are the hosts of the It Is What It Is podcast. Having no experience in the sports entertainment world, during their earlier days, Cam’ron struggled to understand how to make money off of this.

As he was independent at the time, Cam’ron was spending money out of his pocket to keep the show running. during this time, Cam’ron contacted Arenas to find out how everything worked in the industry.

During an interview with Complex, Cam’ron said, “The person who gave me really, really good advice was Gilbert Arenas. Gilbert Arenas was independent, and he was giving me a lot of game on how to stay independent, how to make money.

Arenas taught Cam’ron how to make money doing podcasts and how they can elevate themselves if they stick to their path. This was one of the reasons that both Cam’ron and Mase held back from signing with a brand, even though they were getting offers for millions of dollars. The offers kept piling up one after the other and eventually crossed eight figures before the duo decided to ink a deal with Underdog Fantasy.

Gilbert Arenas was happy to be ranked above ESPN analysts

Arenas also talked about his ranking on the new list. But what made Arenas happy was not his position on the list, but rather that he was placed above media legends like Colin Cowherd and Skip Bayless.

There has been a major shift in the landscape of sports entertainment. Individuals have started their own independent shows and are currently directly competing with established networks like ESPN and TNT in terms of entertainment value. Although Shannon Sharpe is currently ranked first on the list, it won’t be long before an independent personality takes over as the most entertaining sports personality.
