“Taught Me a Lot”: Snubbing Two of His Celtics Teammates, 2x NBA Champion Names Kevin Garnett as “Most Unselfish Player”

The Boston Celtics legend Kevin Garnett has inspired many players and fans. The Big Ticket spent 19 years in the NBA and rose from a rookie to superstardom throughout that time. The 15x NBA all-star, with his basketball skills and his unselfish personality, won the hearts of many people.

One of the many teammates of Garnett made a claim, snubbing two Celtics legends. The 2x NBA champion claimed that Kevin Garnett was the “most unselfish player” he played with. The 2x Champion made it unambiguous that he admired Garnett’s presence in the locker room and on the court and imbibed knowledge from the Basketball Hall of Famer.

Rajon Rondo has played with a few of the biggest names in the NBA. In a podcast with JJ Redick, Rondo shared his admiration for one such player who he thinks is the most “unselfish” player he played with. During his time with the Boston Celtics, Rondo played with Ray Allen, Pau Pierce, and Kevin Garnett. However, despite the age difference of ten years, Rondo considered KG to be his best teammate.

“I could possibly say he probably was my favorite teammate. Only thing I would hesitant because of the age difference. You know, I think ages almost maybe 10 11 years old of me.”

 Rondo recalled Doc Rivers’s comment on “The Big Ticket,” claiming him to be the most selfless player on the court, not just in sharing and passing the ball but also the willingness to help his teammates.

“I remember Doc made a comment it was a couple years we were playing together, and he was talking about how unselfish he’s the most unselfish player on the team.” 

The 2x NBA champion additionally stated his observation that KG was not a ball-hog like Paul Pierce and Ray Allen in the team; he always kept the team above him. 

 “He never complained about getting the ball. You know Paul Ray wanted the ball all the time.” 

Rondo values the time with Garnett and claims that he gained a lot of ball knowledge from the veteran.

“I learned a lot from him, and I guess he taught me a lot.”

Rajon Rondo and Kevin Garnett played a total of six seasons together in the Boston Celtics. Rondo was a member of the Celtics, while the Big Three were at the top of their game. The Big 3 of the Celtics were Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen. Young Rondo had a chance to play and grow under them and the legendary NBA coach Doc Rivers.

Rondo, along with the Big 3, won the franchise’s 17th NBA championship, defeating the Los Angeles Lakers led by Kobe Bryant. Rondo’s exceptional performance in game 6 with a playoff career-high of six steals helped the Celtics seal the series 4-2. Lakers head coach Phil Jackson saw Rondo as a future superstar and called him the “star” of the final championship match.
