The Taylor Swift Effect has taken over the NFL. The 34-year-old has brought so much more attention to the sport that was already huge in the country. Taylor’s impact in the last few months has been such that even the NFL’s Roger Goodell couldn’t stop himself from going on and on about her.

Taylor’s relationship with the Chiefs star Travis Kelce has benefitted the league. Recently, NBA veteran Andre Iguodala, while discussing the 34-year-old’s impact on the NFL, wondered who could have been the Taylor equivalent for the NBA.

Iguodala said, “Who would be the equivalent of a Taylor Swift because obviously it’s not…I don’t think it’s Kendall[Jenner].” The 4x NBA champion was talking about these leagues operating on a business entertainment model where the priority is the revenue that is generated. Evan Turner added that there’s nobody who has as much appeal as the Kardashian/Jenner family. The two also argued over Adele who has been with Rich Paul for several years, but they ended up circling back to Kendall. Iguodala said, “I’m trying to be nice on how I say this but Taylor Swift has a middle America appeal to her.”

Roger Goodell is on cloud 9 with the attention Taylor Swift has brought to the league

There is no denying that Taylor has a massive fan following and the ‘Swifties’ as they like to call themselves, will follow her to the edge of the earth. So now that she has a boyfriend who plays in the NFL and has started taking interest in the games, the Swifties are also bound to fall in line. Goodell agreed that there is a “Taylor Swift effect” in the league right now. The Chiefs game against the Ravens brought in over 55 million viewers, the most for an AFC Championship game in the league’s history.

Talking about the 34-year-old superstar, Goodell said, “Having the ‘Taylor Swift Effect’ is also a positive. Obviously, it creates a buzz. It creates another group of young fans, particularly young women that are interested in seeing, ‘Why is she going to this game? Why is she interested in this game?’ Besides Travis, she is a football fan, and I think that’s great for us.” Will the NBA get a lucky charm of their own? Who will it be? We will have to wait and see.
