Aaron Dessner compares Taylor Swift to Michael Jordan

One of the founding members of indie rock band The National, Aaron Dessner had the chance to join hands with  Swift back in 2020. Bringing their talents together at one stage, the duo released Folklore and Evermore. While fans and listeners were enchanted by the charming partnership, the 47-year-old songwriter shared his experience working with the singer. 

During an interview with BBC Newsnight, he said, “Writing songs with Taylor Swift is like Michael Jordan joining your basketball team.” An X fan account named, “Young/ Swift axis” shared Dessner’s comment online. In another interview with Variety, the songwriter revealed that working with the $1.1 billion singer helped him discover another dimension of work. 

In another interview with Variety, the songwriter shared that collaborating with the Grammy-winning singer allowed him to uncover some aspects of his work that the world might not have been aware of. He referred to Swift as a “lightning rod.”

The comparison of the unlikely duo may not be factually incorrect.

Different paths, same glory

To some extent, Swift’s influence parallels the power once held by the Chicago Bulls legend in the ’90s. Similar to His Airness creating global ripples with his three-peat, Swift has achieved a comparable feat. As per reports, there has been a significant boost in certain aspects of America’s economy since Swift initiated the ‘Eras Tour.’ Something similar was last observed in the 1990s during Michael Jordan’s three-peat accomplishments.
