Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley were on fire on Inside the NBA today. After some wholesomeness in the start and then laughing over Shaq’s Superman origins, Barkley fell victim to Shaq’s prank.

Shaq casually disclosed, “This is deceiving like the soda Chuck is drinking right now.” For the uninitiated, the only thing Barkley drinks is Diet Coke. Not even water because it “doesn’t taste like anything.” His New Year Resolution was to quit Diet Coke, which he failed within the first week.

NBA on TNT shared the entire interaction with the appropriate caption, “Chuck knew something was off.” It was off indeed. Ernie Johnson replayed the moment Chuck drank out of his TNT mug and realized, “somebody mess with my Diet Coke.” All fingers point at Shaq.

His sensitive taste buds realized the soda was not his signature drink and did what Ernie called the “taste test mouth.” Through Shaq’s evil laughter, Kenny “The Jet” Smith called Chuck’s frown and rapid lip-smacking, “That ain’t my Mama’s cooking,” look.

Sir Charles has a lot of reason to feel bitter. He claims he paid attention and yet he fell for the prank. “I paid attention. I knew it was something wrong when I got my Diet Coke.” The joke’s on Shaq. Instead of his prank, fans went crazy over Chuck’s reaction to regular soda.

Taste-Tester Chuck leaves an impression

Barkley himself told the Inside Crew that the soda tampering made him smack his lips in confusion. That very expression will never be forgotten as many requested, “Make that a gif please.”
