With a successful career and an equally thriving business, Shaquille O’Neal has everything. But one thing that eluded him was a successful marriage. In 2011, Shaq expressed regret over all of his mistakes that eventually led to divorce in his memoir, Shaq Uncut, My Story. Now, after all these years, Shaunie decided to open up about the painful experience. Her memoir, ‘Undefeated, Changing the Rules and Winning on My Own Terms,’ chronicles her version.

However, one quote, where she admits uncertainty about whether she truly loved Shaq, has caught fans’ attention. NFL legend Shannon Sharpe also highlighted the statement in his show, The Nightcap. He believes that Shaunie shouldn’t have written that about Shaq in her memoir because he is the father of her kids.

He said, Shaunie can write whatever she want I don’t like I said I’ve never met Shaunie I don’t know her I don’t I don’t I don’t trash people but I just all things being said I wish she hadn’t said that.” He further added, “I do yeah because you do realize you do realize that’s the father of your kids you just told your kids I’m not so sure I was ever in love with your father but is it is it okay.

Speaking on the hardships, she faced in her relationship with the Los Angeles Lakers legend Shaq, Shaunie said, “Looking back, I don’t know that I was ever really in love with the man, but I was in love with the idea of being married to the man I had a family with.”

After an ugly divorce in 2011 due to infidelity, Shaq and Shaunie parted ways. In 2022, Shaunie tied the knot with Pastor Keion Henderson. He has always been very supportive of Shaunie. About his ex-wife’s quote in her book, O’Neal had a very understanding and supportive response.

Taking to his Instagram, the Los Angeles Lakers legend shared a clip that had his message which read, “I understand…I wouldn’t have been in love with me either. Wishing you all the best…All love, Shaq.” Furthermore in the caption, he wrote, “Trust me i get it.”

Previously, in an interview with People Magazine, Shaunie shared that the book would be read by her close ones and all those who are mentioned in it before publishing. This includes Shaq, who may have read it even before it reached the public. Shaq’s supportive message underscores his understanding and support. O’Neal’s son Shaqir also commented on the post and wrote,You know i love ya twin.”

The two share four children together, sons Shareef and Shaqir, and daughters Amirah, and Me’arah. After their expensive split, they decided to co-parent and successfully raised all their children and instilled the right ethics and morals in them. And the two are proud of their children.
