“They Made a Mistake in the Surgery…Poked the Hole”: Feeling Betrayed, Rashad McCants Unveils Distressing Details of the Timberwolves’ Medical Aid

Rashad McCants has not had it easy ever since his college basketball days. His mother was diagnosed with breast cancer during his 2004-2005 season with UNC. But he won the NCAA championship the same season. He closed his college career with a decent average of 17.6 points per game. This gave hopes of a promising career in the NBA. But Rashad could not replicate his college-like success in the big league. And he has revealed some other factors that led to his short-lived NBA career.
McCants was recently in an episode of Gil’s Arena. He revealed on the show how his trusting the Minnesota Timberwolves team doctor for his microfracture knee surgery in a way cost his career. “Because not only did I use a doctor, but they poked a hole in my knee the nine months they made a mistake in the surgery… So I was sitting there like, ‘This poked the hole in my knee and I’m supposed to do a easy procedure and be back for the summer league.’ I’m out nine months!” he stated on the podcast.
The discussion started with Rashad McCants mentioning how he did not choose an outside doctor because of team morale and relationships. He believed Minnesota would prefer him for a longer stay for what he did. But that did not happen as he was out for 9 months, instead of the previously thought 6. He further detailed on how playing as a team player did him no good.

“I’m doing all the behind the scenes, talking to the sponsors, going to all the little sh*t, speaking with the owner, getting that relationship. Because I’m like, hey, bro, what I just did for you, I should at least be paid on the back,” Rashad said.
He further stated how the Timberwolves got him stuck with the Sacramento Kings. Sacramento was one of the worst teams at the time, according to McCants. However, knee surgery is not the only reason that he holds responsible for his not-so-successful NBA career.

Back in 2017, the ex-NBA player had stated he would have been a $60-70 Million Player had it not been for his relationship with Khloé Kardashian. He felt that dating Khloe late in his career made people doubt his commitment to the game. “Without that situation in play, I’m a $60-70 million player,” McCants told the Charlotte Observer in 2017.

Notably, NBA fans believe that dating a Kardashian is a curse for players’ careers. This superstition stems from multiple players having experienced a similar fate to Rashad after dating one of the famous sisters. “I think that it exists… but only in our minds. It’s a mental thing,” McCants had stated in an interview on The Herd.
