You win some, you lose some, then you go back out there to win some more. Hardly anyone knows this better than Dwyane Wade. While the 41-year-old won the NBA Championship three times with the Miami Heat, he couldn’t manage to reach the top of the mountain in his other 13 seasons in the league. However, the NBA legend had the wisdom to understand how even crushing failures could be the stepping stones to epic successes.

Wade recognizes that, without those losses, he couldn’t have achieved what he has on the court or made it into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall Of Fame.

Many would hesitate to acknowledge their failings, especially with high stakes such as in the public eye. In a resurfaced clip on Instagram, the 2006 NBA Finals MVP was asked how he deals with the pressure of having a reputation of “not losing”, due to his fierce sense of competition and pride.

Surprisingly, the basketball- star-turned-entrepreneur had no qualms about answering candidly, admitting that he had actually “lost a lot”. Yet he credits those defeats for his eventual victories; probably why he is known as one of the greatest players in NBA history. Wade shared the clip on his Instagram stories for his 20.3 million followers.

As much as we want every deal to go perfect, everything to be smooth, we don’t really want that because we are not gonna learn nothing from that,” Wade added. No wonder The Flash continues to make money despite hanging up his basketball boots.

The former shooting guard acknowledges his ability and inclination to learn from his mistakes in his business practices, citing that he follows the same wisdom as in his basketball games.
