3 Months After Buying Ownership in Chicago Franchise, Dwyane Wade Takes Up an “Unpaid Intern” Job at 1.7 Billion Worth Company

There aren’t enough fingers to count the titles Dwyane Wade has held in his professional life. Apart from being a 3x NBA champion, he is also an established winemaker, sneaker promoter, festival director, entrepreneur, spokes model, and now an intern. That’s right, D-Wade’s career has come full circle thanks to the queen of fashion. And he looks very efficient at it.

In July 2023, the Miami Heat star sealed the deal on his hometown WNBA team, Chicago Sky. He now has a minority ownership in the team for an undisclosed sum. Maybe he needed a new day job just three months after buying a new sports team. Who knows? Let’s find out.

Dwyane Wade goes to work for Versace

Wade’s partnership with Versace is not new. Before he was a Hall-of-Famer, the 3x champ was in the House of Gianni Versace. No surprise there given he’s built himself as a style icon alongside his NBA career. Over the years, The Flash had a lot to flaunt about his partnership with the leading brand. But this is his best one yet.

D-Wade took to his Instagram Stories to reveal that he’s now working directly under Donatella Versace. The designer took over the operations after her brother’s death and turned it into a billion-dollar empire. So it’s an honor to work for the pioneer. Even if it’s as her intern.

As Wade’s Story was captioned, he is the “unpaid intern” in Donatella’s office. He’s working hard on the computer while taking care of all the “requests” and making sure everyone gets what they need.

A disembodied voice outside the camera’s view asks, “How’s the budget?” In authentic D-Wade style, he says, “Don’t worry about the budget. We’re good.” This intern knows what the bosses want to hear.

He shared more pictures in his stories, including where he’s sipping from his Versace coffee cup. Perhaps NBA’s leading fashionista has something new coming with the Italian brand.

Dwyane Wade wore Versace at his HoF induction and he has been the face of the brand for a long time. Versace also made him memorable at the 2022 Met Gala. Wade is the face of the new eyewear collection under Versace that launched this year. He’s such a hot commodity in the Versace halls, that this intern even gets to kick back at the desk with his feet up.

Given his storied career with Versace, it’s not farfetched to think they’re working on a new collection or launch. They haven’t disclosed what it is yet, but it’s probably big. And we’re going to see it soon.
