The New York Knicks star, Carmelo Anthony, was among the 17 finalists for the Hall of Fame class during the All-Star weekend. That’s not the end of the list, as many were predicting the 10x All-Star would don the orange jacket. Oh wait, that’s again not the only positive news from the last week for the four-time Olympic winner! He is making his mark off the court too. Despite Melo’s lack of official reaction to the NBC role, he gleefully boasted about his involvement in his podcast.

Every year I go to NBA All-Star and then after the game, somebody from the NBA said ‘Yo you want to play?’ and then they curve me every year.” Jason Terrance Phillips, aka Jadakiss, was the host of the latest episode of 7PM in Brooklyn podcast. The legendary New York-based rapper vented his frustration for not being included in the celebrity All-Star game. Being 49 years old, he stated he had two more years to try for the event and that’s when Melo chimed in.

Who got the All-Star game next year who broadcast it? cause TNT don’t have it right?” Hearing the question from Carmelo Anthony, the other co-hosts in unison say NBC. It was a rhetorical question to begin with, as Carmelo Anthony was smiling ear to ear about the announcement.

That’s what I’m saying; K— I got you, K—.” Even Jadakiss, happy about the situation, pleaded: “Pull some strings for me.” The 2003 NCAA champion is yet to give his reaction to joining NBC as a broadcaster. Andrew Marchand, senior writer with The Athletic broke the news a week ago. “NBC has hired Carmelo Anthony to serve as one of the network’s top studio analysts when it begins broadcasting NBA games next season, sources briefed on the network’s plans said Thursday.”

Despite his silence, Carmelo Anthony previously stated his plans as an analyst

After giving blood, sweat, and tears to the league for 19 years, Melo is back in a different role. Last year, even Dwyane Wade praised his Banana Boat crew member for his nuanced approach to calling the game. “So my favorite person who broke down my game and it’s hard for me to break it down, it’s Carmelo Anthony.” Looks like NBC heard these comments and finalized the deal.

Back in December, the Knicks legend was open about looking for more opportunities to contribute to the game. Melo added that “active discussion” was happening in terms of his analyst role. Also giving a glimpse of his thought process. “I would probably have a different approach to it in terms of how I would like to speak the game and talk about the game creatively, what that looks like, and how that comes across.”

A potential HOF year plus an active role to contribute to the game. 2025 could turn out to be a very prolific year for Carmelo Anthony. Let’s not forget that his son, Kiyan, would start his Syracuse career and could look to enter the NBA a season later. So look out for the season 26-27, when the father-son duo might take over the NBA world.
