In a recent interview, the Los Angeles Lakers legend revealed a major detail about his charity work.

But just like the world has many generous people, unfortunately, it has scammers and swindlers as well. The 4x NBA champion mentioned that he is aware of the swindlers who effortlessly trick people into getting their assets. However, O’Neal has a way of avoiding them.

People are aware of all the charity work that the big man does. O’Neal uses his net worth wisely to help those in need. During the show, ‘Rock & Roll Road Trip,’ O’Neal was asked which was his favorite charity work. As you would expect from the gentle giant, he said, ‘Make a Wish’.

For those wondering, ‘Make a Wish’ is an organization that works to fulfill the wishes of children who are terminally ill. The big man stated, “I am really big with ‘Make a Wish’; a lot of children they pass, they wanna talk to me and I actually had to talk to one today.”

He revealed that more than passing checks, he likes to be available to those who need him. Along with money, he likes to invest his time in those children. He ensures he is able to bring a smile to their face. Moreover, the former NBA star has always been actively involved in charity work. 

To protect himself from scams, he said, “I don’t like passing out checks all the time, especially these ‘Go fund me’ scams going on. I like to be able to say, ‘Okay, this kid need this, I will take care of it. I will write the checks for my organization and I make sure it’s done and I’ll take care of it.'”

O’Neal’s generosity knows no bounds but he is well aware of the risks involved when you have so much money. However, he makes sure to use it wisely, as he did for at-risk youth.

There have been several heartwarming stories about the former Los Angeles Lakers center. The big man once donated the entire amount for the renovation of his old shelter home for underprivileged children and youth. This act of kindness is something that the legend has learned from his parents.
