That’s why the brand successfully breached $7 billion in sales, which helped MJ pocket $350 million in royalties. One of the additions responsible for the growth is undoubtedly Travis Scott. His Airness even blessed the rapper who takes pride in creating the product by overseeing every detail.

By 2018, Scott had leveled up from Astroworld headliner to Jordan Brand’s dark‑horse designer. The 33-year-old has become the face of innovation for the Jordan Brand. During his recent interview with Complex, one of the questions was MJ’s initial reaction to Scott’s debut ‘Jumpman Jack’ signature shoe. “He loved it. It’s crazy. He actually called me randomly, and it just so happened I was in a meeting, getting the second or third sample.”

The millionaire rapper was in a meeting with Nike, designing his shoes. So he showed Michael Jordan what he was cooking. “So I just showed him early. Like, ‘Yo, this is what I’m working on.’ He was like, ‘Oh, this shit’s crazy.’ He’s like, ‘Man, whenever you’re finished, just send ’em to me.’” Not only, the Bulls icon stamp his approval, but he was even ready to wear those kicks. The 6x NBA champion did so recently during the NASCAR event on Friday.

He wore the Jumpman Jack in the “Bright Cactus” colorway at Bristol Motor Speedway. He has done that before as well, wearing the Scott and Jordan Brand collaborative product way before the release. Travis Scott’s stocks increased after his Michael Jordan brand deal

In 2020, La Flame had a net worth of $40 million, and now it stands at double, $80 million. Previous reports from that year indicated that he generated “around $10 million” per year from his shoe-centered Nike deal. The list was for purchases on the SNKRS app in 2024. This year’s list keeps the same energy as the ones shared in 2022 and 2023. So, for three straight years, Scott and his popular Air Jordan 1 Low OG silhouettes top the charts. Out of the top 5 shoes, 4 were the collaboration of Michael Jordan and the hip-hop star. But their relationship is more than just a mere partnership. The millionaire rapper refers to MJ as one of his idols and mentors.

That is why Scott also referenced in one of his songs. Drake and 21 Savage released their new album ‘Her Loss.’ The album includes a song featuring rapper Travis Scott, where he includes a shout-out to two of his mentors. “Bring on the rings (yeah), her MJ thing, I’m talkin’ a Brady thing.” Being so young and having MJ as a mentor would be any basketball player’s dream. But it’s Scott who is actually living it.
