Basketball fans would wonder what’s the connection between Shaquille O’Neal and a rapper feuding with his mom. But that’s the situation with Blueface. His estranged mother, Karlissa Saffold, has revived her previous commentary about the NBA legend among other celebrities. Before fans can decide if she’s telling the truth, her son has jumped in to dismiss her claims.

While Saffold’s statements are debatable, there’s no arguing the connection between Shaq and Blueface. In fact, O’Neal has proved he’s a fan of the hip-hop artist.

Blueface slams mom’s claim about Shaquille O’Neal

Karlissa Saffold sat down for another tell-all on The Jason Lee Show. The last time Royce Reed sat across Jason Lee, she claimed she rebuffed Shaquille O’Neal’s flirtatious advances. Saffold went a step ahead with her claims.

She said that in 2002, her fame through the movie, Friday After Next, invited attention from certain celebrities. Saffold name-dropped  50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, and Ice Cube. She’d go on to say that Shaq came to her house but she turned him away because of her kids.

“[O’Neal] came to my house and the damn- Jonathan was woke up, and he was calling and calling and calling. In front of my house. And Jonathan was- I’m trying to put him to sleep,” she told Lee. “You know I don’t want him to know I got the kids, and couldn’t put him to sleep, so I just stopped answering.”

Johnathan Porter, aka Blueface, had something to say about that. He was on X, denying whatever claims his estranged mother made. The rapper pretty much dissed his mother and laughed off what she said about O’Neal.

“She talk bout Shaquille O’Neal was coming over but I wouldn’t go to sleep like wtf is going on,” he first tweeted. A couple of tweets later, he’d add, “You should have told me it was shaq I would have played sleep for cuz.”

Saffold has made this claim before. Social media users find it hard to take her seriously when her son has shut it down every step of the way. This doesn’t sour the relationship between Blueface and DJ Diesel. In fact, Shaq proved he’s got taste by getting on the Blueface hype train.

Shaq didn’t respond to Saffold’s claims the way he remarked about Reed when she was on the same show. The only connection between him and Johnathan Porter’s family that fans have seen is when the former Los Angeles Lakers star showed he loves the young rapper’s music.

In 2019, after a day of bantering with Charles Barkley on NBA on TNT, O’Neal shook a leg and then some to Blueface’s “T**tiana.” He tried to be bold with his moves but was on the verge of injuring himself. He still got the TNT crew hyping him.

We can see why Blueface is on the 7’1″ giant’s side. Nonetheless, O’Neal is staying out of the rapper and his mother’s drama so far.
