The Los Angeles Lakers‘ concerning losing streak after the In Season championship has proved a few things. One, the IST might not have anything to do with the bigger picture. Two, Lakers fans will not tolerate another failed season, even if their team makes it to the playoffs. LA head coach Darvin Ham believes the attention on the team is a bit too much and he doesn’t like that they are being judged every other day. While his narrative did not sit well with a lot of hoop fans, former Suns star Eddie Johnson seems to be on the same page with him.

After extending their losing streak against the Memphis Grizzlies, Coach Ham shared, “I’m tired of people living and dying with every game we play… This is a marathon”. The internet joined forces to attack the 50-year-old, but Eddie Johnson took a direct shot at the netizens. Johnson shared on his Twitter, “The problem is that most of these critics would rather spend a month in jail than try and run a marathon. ” He criticized the naysayers, “That’s the problem, they did not improve at sports and so they live in the moment”

Johnson might be the only person supporting Ham at this point. No other person on the internet is agreeing with the head coach. Although Johnson’s words might be true, this could be Ham’s last season with the Lakers.

Ham does not like the fact that his team is getting criticized every game. He just wants the fans to understand that losing is a part of the long marathon they are running. But, the Lakers have lost 10 of their last 13 games since the In Season Tournament. The team looked promising as the 4th seed just a month ago. But a tight western conference and several losses have pushed the team to the 11th seed.

To make matters worse for Ham, both LeBron James and Anthony Davis have been healthy, and have hardly missed any games. Yet the Lakers have a 17-19 record, and it could get worse with them set to face the red-hot Clippers in a few hours.

The Lakers have been in a similar situation before in the previous years. The front office usually tries and make changes in the roster. However, reports have revealed that the Lakers are not happy with Ham’s player rotations and plays. Phoenix Suns head coach Frank Vogel was in a similar situation before and he was fired all of a sudden. It’s no doubt that the next few games are very crucial for Darvin Ham.
