There’s been a small buzz on social media since a certain someone showed alleged evidence of Matt Barnes’ infidelity. The NBA legend-turned-podcaster is currently engaged to Anansa Sims and they are parents to two sons (both have older children from previous relationships too). However, another woman claims that Barnes cheated on Sims with her and provided the contentious evidence through celebrity insiders, Tasha K and Jason Lee. After they went public with the allegations, Barnes had a scorching retort.

“Zany,” a 27-year-old New York native residing in LA, told Tasha that Matt Barnes slid into her DMs. She shared the explicit texts with the interviewer, who revealed them a week ago. According to Zany, Barnes is cheating on Sims during their relationship.

However, Barnes caught wind of it and reached out to Tasha, who in turn published his response. Barnes didn’t deny nor confirm the allegations. He told Tasha that she’s got the ‘accuser’ wrong.

#MattBarnes claps back at cheating claims, saying the side chick tried to extort him with old messages: ‘All she has is convo. I’ve never met her a day in my life. God bless!’ Although he still hasn’t denied it,” the Unwine With Tasha K page wrote.

It came with screen grabs of Barnes’ messages to prove it. “If yall gonna continue to post these old a– messages from 2023… at least get the women right. Y’all have put up the wrong chick twice…” Barnes said in his messages.

According to Barnes’ messages, “this chick” was someone he was in touch with in July 2023 when he and Sims were on a break. Barnes and Sims have been engaged since 2022 but have been on and off for years, dating back to when they were at UCLA. He vaguely says the woman’s name/last name is “Davis.”

But it’s still unclear if Davis and Zany are the same or different people and who were those messages sent to. But there’s more to this situation than just infidelity allegations.

Matt Barnes responds with allegations too

While Matt Barnes didn’t exactly deny communicating with the woman making the allegations, he’s raised accusations of his own. He claims this person has been using those messages to extort him for over a year. She apparently tried the same in 2024, but didn’t get any traction. She then escalated it in 2025 via Tasha K and Jason Lee.

Barnes is seemingly so mad about this situation that he had some choice nicknames for Tasha and Jason, which Unwine also revealed.

Anansa Sims herself has not responded to the situation. The couple recently showcased their blended family through a reality lens on The Barnes Bunch. The same show also gave insight into their 2020 breakup before their engagement and their couples’ therapy sessions. They’ve been dating since 2018 and welcomed their first child together that same year.

How this situation unfolds remains to be seen. But Barnes is clearly not taking the allegations lying down.
