Just a month ago, Wembanyama was spotted working out with Crawford. The Frenchman shared the picture on his social media causing a frenzy among his fans and the NBA veterans too. Former NBA players such as Kenyon Martin predicted that the 20-year-old couldn’t benefit much while practicing with Crawford.

He further alluded that the rookie should learn a few tricks from Tim Duncan instead. But Wembanyama’s game has changed quite a lot. He has not only enhanced but also shows a unique playing style. Fans have previously praised the retired NBA player for his role and contribution in guiding the rookie star.

Did Jamal Crawford teach his signature move to Victor Wembanyama?

The Spurs rookie scored 25 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the field. He had 3 assists, and 5 rebounds to gain a 66-90. Wembanyama was not alone. He had his old mentor by his side. Minnesota Timberwolves star Rudy Gobert dished out 13 rebounds and 7 blocks for France. Following the win, they face Siberia next.

Earlier this year, Crawford asked Wembanyama in an interview with TNT if he could execute one of his signature double behind-the-back shake ‘n bake moves. In response, the San Antonio Spurs star nodded in agreement. Surprised and thrilled at the prospect, Crawford offered to teach him an extended version of his signature move.

“Wemby if you pull that out I may have to show you the extended version. I’ve never shown anybody.” He further added, “But I may hand that gift to you ’cause you can do it and you will take it to the masses. Congrats my brother!”

He also mentioned in the Dan Patrick Show later that he had showed Wemby a wrap-around move reserved for tall guys and believed that the star rookie could pull it off. So all possibilities the mentor-mentee dynamic is working wonders or at least is set to.
