Ah, the NBA offseason—a time when hardwood warriors trade their jerseys for flip-flops, and fans eagerly await the next season’s tip-off. But before that, something exciting remains. While players are gearing up for the NBA End of the Season Awards, spectators are busy calculating the most eligible players for MVP and Defensive Player of the Year.
Meanwhile, Andre Iguodala, Evan Turner, and Carmelo Anthony are actively participating in the debates surrounding the Awards. This is one of the reasons they have been garnering attention from the basketball world. Recently, all three of them sat down to discuss Awards while offering their unique perspectives, something fans are of course not likely to miss.
The glimpse of the conversation was then posted on the official YouTube account of Point Forward with the title, “Carmelo Anthony Joins Andre Iguodala and Evan Turner for Point Forward’s 100th Episode.” They not only offered insights about upcoming contenders but also broke down the NBA’s most valuable honors.

While having a conversation about MVP, Evan said, “JJ was saying that he was going around telling guys, ‘Hey, don’t pass the ball to JJ. This is my trophy.‘” In contrast to this, Anthony added, “I think the game is coming down to end in the McDonald’s game, so I think I got like 20, and JJ got 19 or something. The clock is running down, I just know I got MVP,” explaining the whole incident. Now, the question is, what happened? Who won the MVP award?

JJ Redick vs. Carmelo Anthony
Moving on, Anthony added, “JJ pulls a three from the hash and it goes in. He gets the MVP, that’s how… JJ got the MVP.” And the results were crystal clear: JJ snatched the MVP from Anthony, according to his words. But this is Carmelo’s perspective. In a recent appearance with Carmelo on the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast, JJ Redick mused at Melo.

“There was some chatter going around at the Jordan Brand Classic that Melo was going around telling our teammates, ‘Yo, JJ is not getting MVP at this game, don’t pass it to him,’” said JJ, accusing Anthony of freezing him on the basketball court. However, he justified everything by saying, “I thought we were going to be co-MVPs at the McDonald’s game.”
As evident by Anthony’s own explanation of the match, it seems like he conspired in the game to take MVP home. However, JJ turned the table upside down and added MVP to his cap of honors. Now the question is: Who’s right, Anthony or JJ Redick?
