Are the Golden Warriors set for greatness with Jimmy Butler’s addition, or are there still missing pieces to the puzzle? Butler landing with GSW was surely a surprise, especially considering he had his mind set on the Phoenix Suns. Even the Warriors were aiming for a reunion with Kevin Durant. But as destiny would have it, Butler joined the Warriors on a $121 million deal. Former Miami Heat legend and Jimmy’s former teammate, Udonis Haslem, however, believes GSW might still make a few more additions to their roster.

“They [Warriors] still have Buddy [Hield], they still have [Gary] Payton [II]. They still have an opportunity to go get a guy like [Nikola] Vucevic or go get a guy like Bobby Portis. So they still might not be done yet,” Haslem said.

The 3x NBA champ is not mistaken here. As per the reports, the Warriors are aiming for Nikola Vucevic in exchange for Gary Payton II’s expiring contract, Kevon Looney’s expiring contract, and Buddy Hield’s four-year contract.

However, it’s not as if Butler’s addition in itself does not give a significant boost to the Warriors. Something that even Haslem admitted on ESPN. “He’s definitely going to take some stress off Steph in the half-court. When you need to get a bucket. And the game slows down. Especially in the playoffs, you can go to Jimmy and he’s going to be efficient,” UH said.

Let’s not forget—this is Playoff Jimmy we’re talking about. Since joining Miami in 2019, Butler has built a highlight reel of legendary postseason moments. A 40-point triple-double in the 2020 Finals. A clutch 47-point explosion in Boston to keep the Heat alive in 2022. And who can forget that ridiculous 56-point masterpiece against the Bucks in 2023?

However, it’s not as if there are no challenges for the GSW with the 6x All-Star.

The issues that the Warriors may face with Jimmy Butler

One of the primary concerns in the Bay Area could be the question if a 35-year-old Jimmy Butler can push the Warriors further as a championship contender. And more importantly, will he be willing to take a step back after being the guy in Miami for so long?

If all of this wasn’t complicated enough, Yahoo Sports’ Kevin O’Connor dropped an interesting nugget to further raise worries for GSW fans. Curry himself had reservations about 6x All-Star coming to Golden State. The reason? Concerns over how Butler would fit in the Warriors’ locker room. That’s worth paying attention to. Butler has had well-documented clashes with teammates in the past. The Warriors, on the other hand, have built their dynasty on chemistry and selflessness. Will the former Heat forward embrace that culture, or could this shake things up in the wrong way?

And here’s the kicker—Jimmy Butler reportedly wasn’t even all that excited about joining Golden State in the first place. That’s right. Earlier reports suggested that he wasn’t too keen on becoming a Warrior, adding another layer of uncertainty.

In fact, the Warriors almost didn’t even pursue him. According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, Butler had already told them he wasn’t planning to sign an extension. That reportedly shut down trade talks before they ever gained momentum. Amid such circumstances, fans may wonder how efficient he the 6x All Star would be in a city that was not his first choice.
