“We Hire Fools Around Here”: Live TV Mishap With Warriors Star Sparks Charles Barkley’s Hilarious Attempt at Outrage

“Practice what you preach.” This seems a far-fetched idea for Philadelphia 76ers legend Charles Barkley. The 11X NBA All-Star is well-known for consistently misspelling players’ names during live television broadcasts. Recently, he hilariously blasted off the ‘Inside the NBA’ crew for making a similar mistake with a Golden State Warriors player. This new year isn’t going great for the Dubs. Their recent unexpected loss against the Ja Morant-less Grizzlies has left fans questioning the Warriors’ defensive strategies.
Adding to the disappointment was a rather amusing incident at the ‘ Inside the NBA’ show. Jonathan Kuminga was mistakenly spelled J. Cuminga on the scoreboard. That immediately sparked the 11x NBA All-Star’s hilarious remark. While Johnson seemed to ignore the mistake, Chuck decided to correct it hilariously. The 1993 NBA MVP said, “That’s not how you spell Kuminga, fools upstairs…Oh boy, come on, we hire fools around here.”

Chuck amusingly teased the staff over the error. He must have seemingly forgotten the numerous occasions he himself got players’ names wrong. Particularly when they are international stars.

One such victim of his playful missteps is Jayson Tatum. Chuck called Tatum as Jayson Taylor while praising the player on live television. However, Tatum is not the only one. Not just names but Sir Charles also has a tough time with pronunciation. No wonder, he has difficulty pronouncing Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Chuck also had a hard time pronouncing Jonas Valanciunas. His TNT crew is often seen playfully teasing the legend in the ‘Inside the NBA’ show. Just recently, the former Phoenix Suns player and his best friend Shaquille O’Neal named another rising star of the league wrong. The OKC Thunder’s star, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who is known for his Michael Jordan-esque skills was called ‘Gilchrist’ by the TNT duo.
