Kendrick Lamar’s fight with Drake is nothing new. Both rappers have taken their chances firing shots at each other. While Drake released the third diss track, “Family Matters” recently, Lamar gave allegations back with an interest in his recent move. Lamar gave a balling turn to enmity with his “Meet the Grahams” track, and what followed post that had both their fans at loggerheads with each other.

Lamar leveled a lot of accusations against Drake which had the fans confused since Drake has been wholeheartedly accepted in the American culture. Amid all said and done, one allegation that stood out was when Lamar brought in basketball references.

Kendrick Lamar uses balling reference for Drake comparing him to Karl Malone

Lamar called out Drake for his drinking habits and cosmetic surgeries. He even compared Drake to former Los Angeles Lakers‘ star Karl Malone while calling himself John Stockton. “I’m John Stockton,” read the lyrical. Stockton and Malone played together for the Utah Jazz for eighteen seasons and were considered to be inseparable. As per Basketball Network (h/t: Sports Illustrated), Malone regarded Stockton as his elder brother.

Notably, Lamar and Drake were also good friends and had a lot of performances together, especially the Club Paradise Tour. Lamar also featured on Drake’s “Take Care” album. However, relations between the two began to sour when Lamar took his shot against Drake on Big Sean’s “Control.” Since the two rappers have on and off taken digs at each other.

Their most recent flak of each other happened from March onwards this year when Lamar lambasted Drake on Future & Metro Boomin’s “Like That.” Drake too didn’t hold back his feelings and gave Lamar a taste of his own medicine. Since the two have gone viral a lot of times on social media regarding their views of each other. And the latest allegations had Drake doing something unforeseeable.

Drake’s reaction caught in the process

Drake’s picture with Karl Malone from 2017 resurfaced on social media. As per Drake’s own admission, Malone was his neighbor. The duo was out watching a Toronto Raptors’ game. However, with the recent dig taken on Drake, he couldn’t digest the name-calling and hence deleted his picture with Malone. But netizens were quick enough to take screenshots of the same.

With internet users catching Drake’s reaction, this thing was bound to catch all the headlines. Meanwhile, Malone might be conscious of being dragged into the duel. On the other hand, Lamar might be waiting for Drake to respond. Nonetheless, rap lovers have a place for both Drake and Lamar and would be hoping that their fight resolves soon and comes to an end.
