Being a Beykeeper also means fearing the BeyHive. Celebrity worshippers of Queen Bey know it best. Charles Barkley is neck-deep in Beyonce’s fandom. But that doesn’t guarantee immunity. While he can get away with a few jokes occasionally, he’s not taking any chances. He left the Inside Guys, TNT viewers, and the BeyHive in splits with his hilarious apology to protect himself from BeyHive and the Mother of all BeyKeepers.

His self-preservation wits have been developed within the fandom itself. Executing BeyHive 101, it’s time to look at Charles Barkley’s best Beyonce fanboying moments.

Raven Symone did her job as The View co-host by commenting on Beyonce but also knew the BeyHive would come for her. The former Disney Darling was more spot-on than the Chuck Guarantee. Charles Barkley was not going to be caught making the same mistake as the likes of Wendy Williams and Kid Rock did. Before he crossed a line, he appealed to a higher authority.  Better known as Tina Knowles.

Barkley roasted the Pelicans and the city of Galveston, Texas in one breath. It was hilarious and went viral, reaching Jay-Z who sent it to his mother-in-law Tina. Incidentally, Tina is a native of Galveston and she let it be known she’s sheen Chuckster’s shenanigans.

The wise man that he is, the Sixers legend issued a formal apology to Tina on Inside the NBA. Once again he had his co-hosts in splits saying, “I don’t want that smoke. I don’t want the Beyhive and Jay after me.” That lasted only so long and he was back to taunting Galveston again.

While King Charles ran on CNN, Beyonce was a recurring theme. The Formation icon was the dream guest for Charles Barkley and Gayle King on the show. They even spoke about having her as one of the TIME Person of the Year honorees. During a conversation with Adam Silver on the show, he compared high-earning NBA players to Beyonce. So you know Queen Bey was on his mind every chance he got.

The highlight was when they aired the visuals of “Texas Hold ‘Em.” Beyonce’s aura brought out an involuntary “Whoa!” out of Chuck. He even said the entire experience was a “lot.”

He’s not a casual fan. TNT’s other resident BeyHive Boo, Shaquille O’Neal was pleasantly surprised his bestie keeps up. Last month he started vibing to “Texas Hold ‘Em” at the start of Inside the NBA‘s Halftime report and even threw in a, “Come on Beyonce, sing that thing! Whoo, hold ’em baby!” The Alabama product claims he’s a fan of country music but showed his BeyHive chops by informing Ernie Johnson of the release schedule of her latest album.

Chuck’s Knowles-ledge elicited a surprised, “I didn’t know you was part of the Hive, Chuck! I see you, Booboo,” from Shaq. Kenny was skeptical that Chuck’s only acting cool. But he slammed him for being a ‘hater,’ and said, “I’m part of the hive, you part of the kitty.” Top that, Shaq.
