Imagine betting on the safest team, and then it goes wrong. Wild, ain’t it? Yes, Paul Pierce, the victim of the failed gamble, has understood how his bet ended up horribly. Did he walk 20 miles? Well, that was part of the bet; he did walk that many miles to work after the Celtics’ loss, but with a rider! He even showed a map on his Instagram story. Speaking of his house, the Celtics legend owns quite a few properties. He has one in Los Angeles, too. Back in 2021, he sold one of his properties. So, where does the Celtics legend currently live?
The Celtics legend amassed a whopping $80 million throughout his 19-season NBA career. Playing for the Celtics for nearly 15 years, he led the team to an NBA championship in 2008. Apart from Larry Bird and John Havlicek, he is one of the few three players to have scored over 20,000 points with the Celtics. Nicknamed “The Truth” by Shaquille O’Neal, he earned $198 million in his NBA salary. And he used his net worth to buy a few beautiful houses.
As for where he currently lives, it could be Los Angeles. The reason? It’s his workplace. He is an analyst for Fox Sports Studio, which is in LA. So, he’s likely living in the city where he also owns a house. Well, in 2024, TMZ reported a burglary at the former NBA player’s LA house. He was reportedly not at home. There is no update on this house, so it could be that he is still living there.

Not to forget, after signing his first deal with the franchise, he bought a house in LA for his mother worth $3.4 million, where she lived for nearly 16 years. Located in Cheviot Hills, this Mediterranean-inspired 5,300-square-foot house was sold for $3.5 million in 2017.
He is originally from Inglewood, California. The 10x NBA All-Star once owned a Mediterranean-style mansion in Calabasas, previously owned by Michael Jackson. He bought it for $6.5 million, reportedly after he won the title with the Boston Celtics. This eight-bedroom, 16,000-square-foot property was later sold for $8.7 million. He also had a home in the San Fernando Valley. Well, there could be speculations about where he lives and where he has put his bet on. All of these might be assumptions, but what isn’t an assumption is his 7-hour-long walk!

Paul Pierce regretted placing a bet on a 20-mile walkIf he knew, he wouldn’t have placed the bet! The Champ was confident that the Celtics wouldn’t lose and claimed that there was a better chance of witnessing a “dinosaur” than a Celtics loss. Unfortunately, the team was handed defeat in Game 2. They blew a 20-point lead that had the Celtics legend at peace at the beginning of the game. With the loss, the man was supposed to keep his word and fulfill the bet.

The Celtics lost 90–91, and he watched his legend take a painful punishment as he had guaranteed the win. He said that he would walk barefoot to his workplace, the FS1 studio, if the Celtics lost. Wearing a robe was also part of it. He put on a robe and started his journey. He took off his shoes but kept his socks on as he continued to walk.

Pierce shared the snaps and snippets of his walk on social media. Well, he did it to himself! After successfully reaching the studio, he immediately hopped into a wheelchair, where an assistant helped him get inside the studio room, where his colleagues were waiting, cheering, and rooting for him.
What’s your perspective on:
Did Paul Pierce's 20-mile walk prove that even legends can misjudge their team's performance?
Have an interesting take?
With the end of his challenge, he assured the fans that he isn’t going to place such a bet ever again. He might find some peace if the Celtics win Game 3, or it would be another win for the Knicks, who are already ahead 2-0.
