Perhaps, after watching the team?s recent performance, Charles Barkley is of the same opinion. Speaking of the team’s poor record, Barkley said, ?Isiah Thomas and Joe Dumars are rolling over in their grave watching the Pistons play.??

Why is Joe Dumars considered the savior of the Detroit Pistons?

The Bad Boys Pistons ushered in a new era for the league. Even after all these years, it’s hard to overlook their significant contributions. Most notable among their stars were Isiah Thomas and Joe Dumars. The duo was the most formidable in the league with incredible two-way play. Both led the team towards victory in 1989 and 1990. However, what’s even more intriguing is 6x NBA All-Star?s contribution post retirement.

After retiring in 1999, the Pistons named Dumars as the President of Basketball Operations in 2001. The team was enduring the same crisis it is experiencing now. However, the 1989 Finals MVP?s presence played a highly significant part in the team?s growth.

Once again surprising the entire NBA world, the team clinched the title in 2004. The team also made six consecutive appearances in the Eastern Conference Finals. It was in 2014 when Dumars stepped down from his position as the president.?

Dumars was also the special advisor to the Sacramento Kings. The former star is currently the Executive Vice President and Head of Basketball Operations for the NBA.

Judging by the current pace of the Pistons, the team might be in need of his advice. Do you think Barkley had the same thought when he mentioned the two legends on his show??

Why did Charles Barkley namedrop Dumars?

The Detroit Pistons endured a highly disappointing beginning to the game. After their recent 107-103 defeat by the Denver Nuggets, the team is eliminated from the in-season tournament.

During their game against the Nuggets, Cade Cunningham contributed? 27 points and nine assists, and Reggie Jackson had 21 points. Despite the team?s desperate efforts, they couldn’t win. It is also notable how the team has been suffering from injuries.

In the first 11 losses, the Pistons were able to keep the contest close. However, that wasn’t the case during their last few games. Even in the previous one, the Pistons were crushed by the Toronto Raptors 142-113. It was never an easy game for the Pistons.
