Jbara has been an athlete for most of her student life. She was a varsity soccer player at Notre Dame prep and was on the soccer team at the University of Michigan. She managed them with her participation in Athletes in Action. She mentioned in past social media posts that she always dreamed of a career in sports media over professional sports.

Lauren Jbara was involved in the American Women in Sports Media at Michigan and compiled the statistics for the Detroit Lions media coverage. With a resume boasting multiple sports internships, a co-hosting gig on local Detroit sports, and a bachelor’s degree in communication and media studies, she worked through the sports media scene.

Fans might recognize her from one of her first on-air jobs in basketball, hosting The Wrap from 2016 to 2019. The Detroit Pistons, the Palace and all things entertainment was the staple of her segment. She was covering Oakland University basketball at the same time.

Across multiple jobs, she covered college basketball and football and the NFL, professional baseball leagues, e-sports, as well as entertainment. In 2021, she moved from Michigan to Atlanta, Georgia to work at Bally Sports.

Warner Bros. officially got her on board in October this year. She’s been the favorite of the TNT sports teams since then.

Fans are currently facing the uncertainty of the decades-old Inside Guys disbanding if one of them leaves.

Charles Barkley has been hinting at an inevitable exit soon. But that’s for the distant future. In the meantime, he drops by Jbara’s in-studio show too. Like Barkley, Jbara is a multi-sport fanatic too.

She double-times it hosting the NHL show, Puckline, between NBA interviews. She’s also in charge of the Atlanta Braves coverage. You can see why the Inside Guys naturally cheer when Ernie Johnson cuts to the sidelines where Jbara is ready for her cue.

One take at a time

I was 7 when I saw 'Space Jam' but didn't know till the third rewatch the lead actor is actually a living basketball legend. It was while studying journalism that my friend would go on about the Warriors from Golden State. Keen on athletes' personas outside their arenas, it was Stephen Curry's confidence and philanthropy that drew me to follow the news on NBA pros and explore sports media.
