While ‘The Truth’s’ legacy endures, Pierce’s off-court life stays remarkably private. The contrast seems fair considering that for nearly two decades, Paul Pierce wasn’t just a basketball player—he was a fixture in the sport. Known by fans as The Truth, Pierce became synonymous with the Boston Celtics, earning a legacy that continues to inspire admiration. Off-court, his life held its own highs and low points—love, fatherhood, and ultimately an ending.

Yes, Paul Pierce is currently single. His 13-year marriage to Julie Landrum officially came to a close in 2023, according to multiple news sources and interviews. The couple’s story began back in 2005, when Pierce met Julie during the NBA All-Star Weekend. Julie, an accomplished interior designer from St. Louis, made an immediate impression.

People close to the pair have often described that moment as the start of an instant connection. At a time when Paul Pierce was facing both personal and professional turbulence, Julie entered his life as what he would later describe as a grounding influence. In his own words, Landrum brought a stabilizing presence into his life.

And as their bond deepened, so did their family. The couple welcomed their first daughter, Prianna, followed by their second, Adrian, and eventually their son, Prince. He shared rare family moments on Instagram—Father’s Day tributes and Mother’s Day shout-outs. It was clear Pierce held his role as a husband and father close to heart. Then, in early 2023, things took a quiet but noticeable turn. No dramatic headlines. No official press release. Just a short, candid post from Pierce on X: I’m single, what’s up.”

It was vintage Pierce—direct, a bit unexpected, and very telling. No further context was given, but the message was loud enough.

After over a decade of marriage, Pierce and Landrum had gone their separate ways. Though Pierce offered no public announcement, multiple outlets confirmed their 2023 split.

Have an interesting take?

Since parting ways with his wife, Paul Pierce has been surprisingly candid, though always in his trademark bold and sometimes divisive way, about how he sees love, relationships, and marriage these days. Take his podcast Truth After Dark, for example. Pierce didn’t mince words during one of the episodes.

On the May 4 episode, he didn’t just quip that marriage offers “no advantage” for a man”—he laid out why, arguing that “most people who marry are either poor or old” because they seek financial relief or late-life companionship” (And yes, he cited his own mother’s first marriage at age 70 as proof)

When asked if he had any regrets about marrying Julie, he said, “Absolutely not… I don’t say it’s a mistake, I say it’s a learning experience.” And the door to love isn’t completely shut. He later admitted he’s “open to love” again—and even joked on FS1’s Speak about joining The Bachelor: “Why not? I’m looking for love.” But as of now, Paul Pierce stands single.
