“Soon to be wife,” Rajon Rondo wrote on the Mother’s Day tribute Instagram post for his longtime girlfriend. The former Los Angeles Lakers player decided to sign a lifetime deal with his partner Latoia Fitzgerald in June of 2024. While Rondo is a household name in the NBA world, many are not aware of the lady who is married to the champ.

Who is Latoia Fitzgerald?

Fitzgerald was born on August 16, 1986, in Pennsylvania. Her mother was a seamstress while her father was a video photographer. The now NBA wife is a renowned professional fashion designer. She owns a children’s clothing line. From a young age, the designer had a love for sewing, clothes, and creating her own fashion. Her passion gained new momentum when she began to be recognized for her work in high school. She would often stitch and design dresses for her friends.

This is what inspired her to join the Art Institute of Philadelphia for Fashion Design. After completing her education, she launched a contemporary brand with her friend, Michelle Savage, in 2010. The brand was called LaToia Michelle. Currently, she owns two brands, Lionne, which was established in 2019, and Dillonger, a successful initiative that began in 2014.

“As designers, we always need to seek out inspiration. Obviously, it’s hard for anyone to be inspired during a pandemic. Still, I try my best to read new books, watch fashion documentaries, visit art galleries, and even look at things on social media to keep my creativity going,” Latoia said in an interview with CFDA.

Just like everyone, the pandemic in 2020 was tough on the designer too. However, she had one thing to cherish.

While there’s no exact update on when the two began dating, Instagram updates suggest the couple has been together since 2020. In 2022, the former Los Angeles Lakers player decided it was finally time for him to propose. At an NYFW event for the clothing brand ‘Lionne,’ the former Lakers player proposed to the businesswoman. Draya Michele, Fivio Foreign, Flo Milli, and many more were present at the event. Soon, rumors began to swirl about their wedding.

In an Instagram post, Rondo appreciated his would-be wife and wrote, “Happy Mother’s Day to the most incredible Mother and soon to be Wife. Your love, strength, and dedication inspires me daily. Thank you for everything you do. I love you Queen T!!”

As per a report by MediaReferee, she has a son named Dillonger from her previous marriage. Rondo was also previously married to Ashley Bachelor. The former Boston Celtics player shares two children, Ryelle and Rajon Jr., with Ashley.

The two decided on Lake Como, Italy for their destination wedding. The Philly native shared numerous snaps and snippets of the wedding preparations on their Instagram Stories. Fitzgerald also shared a special Instagram post ahead of their trip to Italy and wrote, “Embarking on a journey to our dream wedding destination in Italy with our family by our side. #GodIsWithUs 🫶🏾”

A clip of the couple dancing to the song ‘March Madness’ by Future as they entered their party went viral on the internet. While many of Rondo’s close friends extended good wishes on social media, others traveled to Italy to congratulate their former teammate. Troy Daniels, Washington Wizards’ star Kyle Kuzma with his girlfriend Winnie Harlow, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and his wife McKenzie Caldwell-Pope, along with many others, were in attendance.
