Steve Nash’s personal life has always been a point of interest for the fans. Especially since the details about the divorce with the first wife came to light. The 50-year-old was previously married to ex-wife, Alejandra Amarilla. Nash and Amarilla first met in 2001 and tied the knot in 2004. But in 2010, the Phoenix Suns legend announced his separation and called it “bittersweet.”

Lilla Frederick hails from Huntington Beach, California, and has four siblings. In 2008, she graduated from Cornelia Connelly High School and continued her professional journey of playing volleyball. Even during her high school days, she was a bona fide star, leading the Connelly’s Koalas from Anaheim to the championships.

Frederick & Co. won the CIF-Southern Section Division V Championship in both her junior and senior seasons. Furthermore, she earned the Division V MVP in both years. She received a scholarship to play for Pepperdine. The outside hitter continued her dominance in her new surroundings in Malibu. She started in all 28 games as a freshman, plus ended the season with a spot on the West Coast Conference All-Freshman team in 2009. It was just the beginning of her domination.

Her development was so meteoric that she etched her name in Pepperdine’s history books, ranking #12 in kills (1,140) and #7 in digs (1,136). Those numbers helped her achieve the All-West Coast Conference first-team in her final two years. Frederick was then selected to the Junior National Team for the US Women’s squad in 2009.

If you think she only excelled in indoor events, then you are completely wrong. NCAA introduced sand volleyball as an official sport in 2011 and Lilla Frederick excelled in that too. “I think that it’s the movement being different. There (are) only two players in sand, so there’s more pressure on you. Obviously, nature comes into play. The wind plays a big factor outdoors. But the movement is the biggest part of it.”

She became a member of the inaugural American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American class. Propelled Pepperdine to help win their first-ever sand volleyball team National Championship.

The couple first met in 2015 and sparked dating rumors after uploading a photo together. No details about how the couple met are available. But the 8x All-Star popped the question the following year during their vacation in Europe. The couple was on a holiday in Spain, where Steve Nash also has ownership of the soccer team Mallorca. In March she announced on Instagram, “Today walking through the beautiful fornalutx Mallorca, Steve proposed. We’re engaged!!!”

A few months later, the couple got married in an intimate ceremony in California. Steve Nash and Lilla Frederick have two children: a son Luca Sun, born in July 2017, and a daughter Ruby Jean, born in June 2019. They also constantly post photos with Nash’s three children from his previous marriage.

Steve Nash and his ex-wife, Alejandra Amarilla, were married for 5 years, twin daughters Lola and Bella, born in October 2004, and their son Matteo, born in November 2010. After the birth of the son, the 2x MVP said, “I am very thankful and excited that we have a new son, Matteo Nash. Alejandra and the baby are doing fine. But this is a bittersweet moment for my wife and I; after five years, we are now in the process of dissolving our marriage.” 

The Canadian continued, “We remain firmly committed to raising our children in the most positive, nurturing way possible. I want only good things for Ale going forward; right now, I’m focused on ensuring that our children understand how much they’re loved and adored by us as they continue to adjust to these changes.” But it wasn’t as smooth as he expected, with their personal life on full display during the alimony and child support legal trouble.

Since their divorce, Nash has moved on, marrying Frederick in 2016. They have constantly updated fans with their trips and birthday celebrations. Steve Nash recently celebrated his 50th birthday with former Dallas Mavericks teammate and superstar Dirk Nowitzki. So, now they successfully co-parent 5 children, leaving the legal debacle behind.
