Back in 2017, Dwyane Wade introduced the world to his newest companion, Tre Wade—a small, charming French bulldog with boundless energy. At the time, his home was already alive with four other furry friends: Bobby Hurley, Pink, Jaro, and Charlie Blu. With such a vibrant pack, the “Wade family” became a showcase of love and loyalty, as the basketball legend and Gabrielle Union shared glimpses of their dog-filled adventures. But now, the family is grappling with an irreplaceable loss, bidding farewell to their beloved Charlie Blu.

On Instagram, Dwyane Wade broke the heart-wrenching news with a message that tugged at fans’ emotions. “We love you and will miss you, Charlie Blu 💔,” he wrote. While Wade didn’t go into details, it was clear that this wasn’t just any goodbye.

Charlie Blu was a Cane Corso, a majestic Italian breed celebrated for their loyalty and protective instincts. While Wade hasn’t shared much about his bond with Charlie, his history of welcoming pets with open arms speaks volumes. For Wade, his dogs aren’t just animals; they’re “homies” and core members of the family.

Charlie Blu’s absence will undoubtedly leave a void, but his spirit remains woven into the “Wade family” forever. However, there are four more special members of the “Wade family” who are stepping up to bring warmth and joy. Among them is Jaro, another Cane Corso, who now holds an even bigger responsibility: protecting and guarding the family. Jaro’s loyalty and presence are sure to help ease this difficult time.

Looking back, this isn’t the first time the Wades have faced heartbreak. Back when Gabrielle and Dwyane started dating, Gabrielle’s bulldog, Sasha, was a cherished companion. Sadly, Sasha passed away in 2014, but her memory lives on.

Today, the couple’s home remains full of wagging tails. Pink, a lively white pit bull, and Bobby Hurley, a tiny Yorkshire terrier, add their unique personalities to the mix. Then there’s Tre, a French bulldog who became an instant sensation in May 2017, when Wade introduced him to the world. And what a moment that was!

Wade welcome another “homie”

So despite the heartbreaking loss, let’s look at this sweet moment, which will help us to understand the bond Wade share with his “homies”. Wade announced Tre’s arrival with so much affection, posting a sweet photo captioned, “Tre’ Wade!!! He doesn’t know it yet but he’s gonna be my best friend.” It wasn’t just a caption—it was a promise. That little pup had no idea he was walking into a home full of love and mischief, becoming part of something so much bigger.

As Tre grew, he didn’t just win over Wade’s heart—he became part of the squad. “My little homie is in training but he’s already a part of the Wade family,” Wade proudly shared at the time. “Can’t wait to hit the streets with you Tre’.” Fast-forward almost eight years, and Tre is still there, standing by Wade’s side like a true best friend.

Wade once cheekily quoted his stylist, Calyann Barnett, about his life: “As @unlawfullady always says… All your friends you pay for them to be your friends.” With Tre in the mix and a bustling household that includes Wade’s three sons—Zaire Blessing, Zion Malachi Airamis, Xavier Zechariah—and his nephew Dahveon, the Wades have no shortage of love. But one thing’s for sure: Charlie Blu will always be missed.
