Book-a-holics and sports maniacs, mark your calendars for October 3. That’s the day Every Shot Counts: A Memoir of Resilience drops. The memoir is about and written by Carlos Boozer, the two-time NBA All-Star. He travels back in time to his days at Duke University and retells his experiences playing alongside several NBA stars. Notably, he won the National Championship with the Duke Blue Devils in 2oo1.

A few of his friends within the league like Grant Hill, Jayson Williams, and Isiah Thomas got exclusive early access to the memoir. They had only great things to say about it. One of the glowing reviews came from the 2000 NBA MVP, Shaquille O’Neal.

When Boozer started his career in 2002, Shaq was an NBA champion already. They’d have several matchups while Shaq was with Miami Heat and Boozer was with the Utah Jazz. Overall, Carlos Boozer faced off against Shaquille O’Neal 15 times.

Carlos’ relentless work ethic, passion for the game, and commitment to excellence have made him one of the most respected players in the league. With Every Shot Counts, I hope that you’ll be as inspired by his journey as I’ve been,Shaq shared about the book.

Boozer played in the NBA for 13 seasons from 2002 to 2015. He retired in 2017 after a stint in China. In 2018, he played in the former NBA pro league, ‘Big 3’.

He played his final NBA season with Kobe Bryant about whom he has fond memories. His and Shaq’s combination would also be a story in his memoir featuring the late music icon, Prince. Though they never were on the same team, Boozer’s love for two of the greatest Los Angeles Lakers legends is palpable.

A prominent name in his book will be Coach K. Hall of Famer Mike Krzyzewski has moulded many Duke products for the NBA, including Carlos Boozer and Grant Hill.

While his own playing days were nothing short of phenomenal, Carlos now has his eyes set on the hardwood for the next generation. These days the Olympic gold medalist gets to relive his hoops dreams through his son, Cameron Boozer.

Much like Shaq’s kids, 16-year-old Cameron is showing potential NBA greatness. He brought Team USA the gold at the 2023 FIBA U-16 Americas Championship in Yucatan.
