Justin’s older brother, Scotty Jr., is already making waves in the NBA with the Memphis Grizzlies. After struggling to find game time in his rookie year in the league, the 23-year-old seems to have found a home in Tennessee. And his parents are extremely proud of his improving performance.

It is worth mentioning that Justin also had offers from other colleges, including Stanford, Georgia Tech, Cal, and Texas A&M. But the 19-year-old made up his mind to go with the Wolverine’s newly appointed coach Dusty May.

According to On3.com, Justin states his long-term goal of making it to the NBA as his reason for choosing Michigan. “Michigan is great for my development and playing on that big of a stage in that conference is great for me,” he said.

Meanwhile, speaking to ESPN, the 19-year-old mentioned he liked the feel of the campus and school. However, he reiterated the main purpose of choosing Michigan to be his end goal of making the NBA, which he believes a big school like Michigan can help with. “I was really going to make a decision between my other schools… Then I got a call from Coach Dusty May. I wanted to give him a chance. We set up a Zoom call. I went on a visit and I felt it was the right place and situation for me,” he told ESPN

Justin states that his family has supported him with this decision. “They let me make my own decision… They know it’s great academically, they both spoke with Coach May,” he stated. It is worth mentioning that Dusty has taken up the position of Michigan’s head coach this year itself. Now, it is to be seen what this newly formed pair along with other players brings to the Michigan Wolverines.
