Following his retirement from basketball, Gilbert Arenas has stepped into the world of entertainment. With his fun personality, he has had great success in podcasting. Although it’s been a decade since Arenas has stepped away from basketball, he has not lost the essence of being an athlete.

Gilbert Arenas recently joined the rapper Melli Monaco on her YouTube channel. The two decided to pause podcasting and settle things on the court. Arenas and Melli Monaco have done videos together in the past, and the two have great chemistry together. This led to Melli one day challenging Arenas to three sports. The first of which was tennis.

The two of them were having a competition with huge prizes at stake. If Melli wins any one of the three, she would receive 1 million dollars from Gilbert Arenas. But if Arenas wins all three, she said that she would give him her Porsche 911.

This made Arenas take things seriously. Arenas woke up at 5 in the morning. He wanted to stretch, view the court they were playing on, and get ready to play. Arenas was not taking any chances and decided to be fully serious.

After waking up, he googled tennis and how to play, as he was a complete novice to the sport. Arenas did not even have a racket to play with, but he was not lacking in self-confidence. They decided to meet in a court in north Hollywood. Arenas revealed that in his younger days, he used to play in the same park on the basketball court.

Arenas said, “I take this bet and s**t seriously. I’m an athlete.” Monaco arrived late, and Arenas was already stretched by the time. The two got straight into their match, and it was for one set.

The score was close in the beginning. But towards the end, Arenas pulled away and won with a score of 21-12. After that, he ran around the whole court in celebration. What Melli did not consider was that Arenas was used to this. He had done the same thing when he went up against Kobe Bryant in the NBA.

Back when Arenas was young and playing in the NBA, he always wanted to win. In order to do that, he was willing to be a student. During his NBA days, when he was about to face Kobe Bryant, he went to the arena three to four hours before the game, knowing that Kobe would already be there.

He would learn everything that Kobe was practicing and understand what he would focus on during that game. After watching closely and learning everything, later that day, against the Los Angeles Lakers, Arenas had the best game of his career. He dropped 60 points for the Wizards to win the game.
