There’s no exact formula to win a championship. However, some distinct elements contribute to making a team championship worthy. And when we think about it, the first team that comes to mind is the Miami Heat and their Heat culture. One preacher of this culture is 43-year-old and the oldest Heat player, Udonis Haslem. He spent about two decades playing for the franchise. And this veteran has a piece of vital advice for the teams in the league.

In the latest episode of his show, ‘The OGs Podcast with Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller,’ Haslem vouched for 6ft 2 former NBA player Norris Cole and said that the team needs veterans like Cole in the league, who, right now, play in the G-league. Calling out all the franchises in the league, Haslem stated, “I watch a lot of basketball all you motherf**kers need some help. Lot of you motherf**kers need some help in your locker room, so a lot of this that’s going on like OK Corral in your locker room. If y’all could just get these 15 motherf**kers on the same page, y’all actually might have something going for yourself.”

He mentioned that young players with blockbuster contracts won’t be enough for a franchise to win the championship and ended, “At the end of the day you need vet (veteran)”.

The shooting guard showed his best when he was a part of the Miami Heat’s championship victories in 2012 and 2013, which were strategically led by Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, and Chris Bosh. While speaking of the 2012-13 championship, both Haslem and Cole had one similar opinion.

It was during one episode of The OG’s Podcast that Haslem claimed that Bosh was crucial to the Heat’s triumph. He clarified his stance as he praised James for being the best player, however; reiterated the significant impact of Chris Bosh. In 2010, James went to the Miami Heat and formed the Big Three with Wade and Bosh. 

“Everybody thinks that our most important player was Bron. Our most important player, not our best player, but our most important player was CB,” Bosh said on the show.

While that started a debate among the fans and netizens, Norris also seemed to agree with him. During his appearance in the Gils’ Arena Podcast, Cole approved Haslem’s claim. Cole’s brilliance is evident from his playoff appearances in every year of his seven-year tenure in the league, except for 2016. Moreover, he also possesses a wealth of basketball knowledge, given his experience playing in Puerto Rico, Montenegro, France, and Egypt. He was part of the Gran Rapids Gold and joined the G league Ignite last year.
