Just last month, ahead of the new season, Tyreek Hill signed a new contract worth $90 million. And the 65,582 fans in Hard Rock Stadium couldn’t wait to see their All-Pro receiver perform. Although he was quiet in the first half, the Cheetah ultimately did what the fans wanted and powered his team to a comeback win. The comeback was even sweeter because of what had transpired before the game which got a reaction from NBA legend Kevin Garnett.

The Miami Dolphins won the game 20-17 at home and KG took to his Instagram story to write about it. The caption read, “Damn n that was in Miami 😮🙈 Love how you handled yourself TYREEK HILL 🫡💯🤝 @cheetah Respect 🫡 bro.” Hill has been one of the top players in the league as he caught 119 passes in each of the last two seasons. He even surpassed 1,700 receiving yards in each campaign spent with the Miami team.

Before making his way into the stadium, the police pulled over the WR citing a traffic violation. Some videos went viral showing the 30-year-old being handcuffed on the ground. But it didn’t break his spirit; instead, he found motivation for the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The team from Jacksonville took the lead 14-0 very early and it was not a surprise since their offense led the league in yards last season. With the Dolphins’ offense being out of sync early on, Tua Tagovailoa took charge in the third quarter. With 2 minutes and 19 seconds left on the clock, the QB launched a deep ball towards Hill. He broke an Andre Cisco tackle and did not stop until he hit a TD.

How Tyreek Hill earned Kevin Garnett’s respect

The 80-yard touchdown wasn’t his only impact, as he also contributed with seven receptions for a team-leading 130 yards. He also did a celebration, mocking the whole ordeal. After the epic touchdown, he put his hands behind his back as if they were in cuffs, which appeared as if he was trying to send a message.

The official report from the police stated that Tyreek Hill was “uncooperative,” with cops and was responsible for initiating “this unfortunate incident.” After the game, WR stated, “I wasn’t disrespectful because my mom didn’t raise me that way. I didn’t cuss, didn’t do none of that,” Hill said.

Even on his social media, the 5x First Team All-Pro tweeted, “Bossman got to come out with some new lyrics now.” The police union also stated that they had put the officer on administrative duty. Ultimately, Hill was able to put things behind him and once again came in clutch for the Dolphins, which even Kevin Garnett couldn’t resist appreciating.
