The Baltimore Ravens offense scored on seven straight drives against the league’s No. 3-ranked defense, reached at least 40 points for the second time this season, and there was one man present to watch his native team secure the dub. Carmelo Anthony’s presence was enough for some fans to trouble the coach with the question of starting the 10x All-Star.

The Baltimore native is a regular attendee of the NFL games. During his latest presence, the team recovered from the previous week’s loss to the Cleveland Browns, a loss which had ended the team’s five-game winning streak to a 29-24 loss on the road. Down to 59 seconds, Ravens grappled, but couldn’t reach the end zone.

However, that wasn’t the case this time around. The Ravens blew away the Denver Broncos 41-10 at M&T Bank Stadium. Leading by 14 to start the second half, the Ravens scored a touchdown, forced a punt, and then added another touchdown. The game was theirs. Apart from 10 points in the second quarter, the Denver side was quiet in the rest of the three quarters. Star of the show was once again Lamar Jackson.

Jackson finished with 16-of-19 for 280 yards and three touchdowns. And became the first player in the league with four games with a perfect passer rating (min. 15 pass attempts). For fans, the attack has never been in question, but it’s the defense that has caused some problems. So when Carmelo Anthony appeared, some netizens thought it better to start the former NCAA Champion.

Carmelo Anthony’s presence was enough to inspire the win

The heartbreaking loss to the Deshaun Watson-less Browns left a bitter taste in everybody’s mouth. “Put him in, coach!!! You know he’s got hands.” Despite leading twice in the second half and reclaiming the lead with a Derrick Henry TD, the Ravens couldn’t close the door. With key CBs Marlon Humphrey and Nate Wiggins sidelined, one fan asked Carmelo Anthony “Can you play the defense? 😂😂.”

But not to worry, after all, as per ESPN, Lamar Jackson was ranked 2nd with 74.9 QBR. “3 to the DOME 👌,” another fan reminded about the previous encounter between Jackson and Melo. The QB used the same celebration to share his respect for Carmelo Anthony. With the extra pressure of the Olympian being in the house, another netizen wrote, “We better win this game bro camelo watching”

It’s exactly the way it played out, in his all black outfit, Carmelo Anthony somewhat proved to be the difference maker. Yet one fan playfully jibed at the outfit. “I thought that was usher.” Up next for the Ravens on ‘Thursday Night Football’ are Cincinnati Bengals. Where the Baltimore side will debut their ‘Purple Rising’ helmets and hope to sweep their division rivals.
