Coco Gauff, the 19-year-old tennis star made everyone proud with her first victory at the US Open. While fans poured in all their love and wishes to the athlete, Gabrielle decided to congratulate Coco’s mother on her success. For the latest edition of “Women Crush Wednesday,’ Gab shared a short clip consisting of a medley of moments from Gauff’s life and added a special message for her mother, Candi Gauff.

Some would say that Coco is the definition of an overnight success but truthfully this tennis phenom stands on the shoulders of encouraging parents.” She added, “Nonetheless, it’s clear every sacrifice has been worth it with so much more to come.”

Candi is not a newcomer to the world of sports. She is a former athlete on the track team at Florida University. She is also well remembered for her stunning performance in the 1991 Heptathlon.

So when she discovered her daughter Coco’s passion for tennis, she and her husband Corey Gauff ensured that their daughter could follow her dreams. They left their full-time jobs in Atlanta and moved to Florida.

Corey Gauff is also a former basketball player for Georgia State University. Coco’s dad stated he thinks their athletic traits must have been passed to their eldest daughter. However, it’s not just their traits but their hard work that encouraged Gauff to win her first Grand Slam title.
