Dwyane Wade didn’t just play basketball; he redefined it, and now, his legendary feats are challenging a new generation of NBA stars. “Wade is the best player ever,” Shaquille O’Neal once said about his former teammate. Just at the age of 24, DWade was already doing the unimaginable. He had averaged a stunning 34.7 points during 6 Finals games to defeat the Dallas Mavericks and win a championship. It was hard to come across such talent at such a young age. During his 16-year career, Wade has made several records that are yet to be broken by modern players. 

The modern NBA scene has great players such as Anthony Edwards, Jayson Tatum, and more. However, that doesn’t mean that Dwyane Wade’s game is forgotten. In 2006, he was at his best playing alongside O’Neal. Then, in the 2008-09 season, he made a new record that he still holds. He is the fifth guard in NBA history to have 100+ blocks and 100+ steals in a single season.

Fascination right? What’s even more exciting is no player after Wade has been able to achieve this record. While George Gervin was the first ever to do so, Michael Jordan followed him. Before Wade, Reggie Lewis and Tracy McGrady also accomplished this feat. As Wade flaunted his unique skillset on Instagram, he jokingly said, “you’ll never see them again,” with a face with steam from nose emoji.

But perhaps this could be his way of challenging young players and motivating them. As of now, some of the best shooting guards, such as Edwards, Devin Booker, and Donovan Mitchell, haven’t been able to surpass his records.

Even back with the Golden Eagles, Wade had made some unbelievable records and feats. After more than a decade, players are slowly catching up to him. 

Cooper Flagg joins Dwyane Wade in exclusive NCAA tournament record book

There’s a lot of hype around Duke player Cooper Flagg as they compete with some of the best teams for the national championship. In the Sweet Sixteen, the Duke star made history by scoring 30 points on 9-of-19 shooting, along with seven assists and six rebounds, helping Duke secure a 100-93 win over Arizona.

With this performance, he became the second player after the Miami Heat legend to create this historic achievement. Matt Norlander of CBS took to his social media to announce Flagg’s new record. “Cooper Flagg is the first player with at least 25 points, five rebounds, five assists, and three-plus blocks in an NCAA Tournament game since Dwyane Wade in the 2003 Elite Eight vs. Kentucky,” he wrote

Cooper is the consensus No. 1 prospect for the 2025 NBA Draft. He is well on the right track. And his performance for the Duke speaks volume. After making a NCAA record, the 3x NBA Champion has had a historic NBA career, which led the storied franchise to honor him with a statue.
