Shaquille O’Neal has created a portfolio that many would be in awe of. From not understanding the importance of owning things as a new superstar in the league to building a $500 million net worth, he has done it all. More importantly, he has learned through all this. To share his knowledge, the Lakers legend even recently appeared at the Investors’ Summit in Toronto. Apart from the public, the ‘uncle’ to WNBA star Angel Reese is making sure that the forward stays smart with her investments. And it seems the Sky No. 5 is following on the advice for her new journey.

I think you’ve given me some business advice when I told you I was moving to Miami.” On her podcast Unapologetically Angel, the 22-year-old revealed the advice from Shaq. “I’m still going to Miami. You were telling me not to buy a house.” The 15x All-Star was against the idea that Reese should move to Miami and own a house, despite knowing that she would be playing in the new 3×3 Unrivaled league. However, the former NCAA champion made it clear that she would move to Miami and also follow Shaq’s advice.

You rent,” said Shaquille O’Neal and Angel Reese agreed. “Yeah, that’s what I was saying. People got mad cause I said I wasn’t buying the house yet.” Unsurprisingly, that’s not the only advice he shared with his ‘niece.’ The real estate investment is a sour subject because once Shaq had to accept the offer with a 60% loss. His massive Florida mansion was available on the market for three years, previously listed at $28 million.

After years of struggle, the property just outside of Orlando fetched $11 million in a sale. But despite advising Angel Reese to not buy a property, Shaq flaunted his new asset South of the border.

The Big Aristotle on his YouTube channel uploaded a video about his new $12 million luxury condo in Mexico City. “I kept it small, ’cause I don’t really come here a lot.” It was small considering his other mansion, as it was only a 1-bedroom space. But Shaq compensated big time as his master bedroom has a stunning panoramic view of the entire city. Still, it doesn’t stop him from sharing a few pieces of advice here and there.

Shaquille O’Neal shares importance of investments

Apart from real estate investment, the 4x NBA champion also opened up on dating advice, NIL money, endorsement, and even the importance of building the right team. “Have people around you that are smarter than you are,” Shaquille O’Neal said on Unapologetically Angel.

On another podcast, a few days ago, Diesel revealed that he studied LLCs and Subchapter S corporations. It was important for him to study, to understand where and how to avail tax breaks. “If you don’t know all that, you just get all the money and then you spend all the money.” While speaking to Roberto Mtz, Shaquille O’Neal also explained why investing huge amounts in bank accounts won’t work for him.

I didn’t know what to do with it like they say put it in the bank, but what the bank shuts down. Like the FDIC only insures $200,000, so I can’t put 10 million in the bank.

That’s why the Lakers legend wants Angel Reese to avoid bad investment opportunities and learn from his mistakes. This is why the Sky forward understood and ultimately put a hold on buying a property in Miami, despite playing for the Unrivaled.
