“$100,000 if you make this shot.” Angel Reese recently made a bet and eventually lost to her mentor. Shaquille O’Neal and his jittery 52% free throw rate are known worldwide. The Chicago Sky rookie thought she would make a quick buck, but the Lakers legend once again reminded her about the importance of money in a friendly wager. After all, the Chi-Town Barbie has been on a spree lately with her business decisions, which might eventually fetch her the coveted spot held by Sue Bird.

I want to create generational wealth. Something Shaq taught me from day one was that you have to own things. You have to have so many different income streams beyond basketball because, eventually, basketball does stop,” the 22-year-old recently said via The Business of Fashion. Shaquille O’Neal and Angel Reese are also business partners in various projects, from her podcast to her own sneakers.

That’s why the Sky forward currently has a net worth of around $2 million. The path to creating generation wealth will not be easy, as first, she will have to beat WNBA legend Sue Bird. The 4x WNBA champion sits at the top of W athletes as her worth is reportedly around $8 million to $10 million.

Bird recently even joined the ownership group of Seattle Storm earlier this year. “As a player, I poured my heart into every game for the Seattle Storm, and now, as part of the ownership group, I am thrilled to continue contributing to the growth of the game.” She even called the opportunity a “smart business.”

Smart business is what even Angel Reese is trying to do, thanks to Shaquille O’Neal. The former LSU athlete did launch three projects in just the month of August. The ventures were Unapologetically Angel (podcast), Reebok x Angel collection, and Reese’s Pieces. So, definitely, Shaq’s advice is working, but who did he receive the advice from?

Shaquille O’Neal passed on the golden advice

The 52-year-old came from an underprivileged background and her mother, Lucille, worked multiple jobs to provide sustainability. Once the NBA thing worked out, Shaquille O’Neal got the deal from Orlando Magic, worth $40 million. At that time, it was the most lucrative deal in NBA history.

But the Center was just 20 years old. He had to learn how to manage his finances. And it was another Lakers legend who taught him how to build the dynasty. “I saw Magic Johnson one day, and he tells me it’s okay to be famous, but you better start owning things. And I’m like, ‘What the fu** are you talking about?’ And then I will watch him, and… I just took his blueprint and ‘Shaqtified’ it, and here we are.

The same advice from owing things, Shaquille O’Neal, has been passed down to Angel Reese. We all know it’s just the start for the Sky athlete and with the Big Aristotle in her corner, the future is definitely bright. It will be interesting to see how fast she catches up with Sue Bird because the salaries and endorsements in the league are way up than before.

“Stay tuned for more such updates and join us for the exciting second episode of the “Dual Threat Show” as our host BG12 sits down with Georgia Bulldogs star and Mountain West All-Freshman Team Selection, Asia Avinger.”
